Should have bought Konami. They're probably going to be too late and Xbox are going to buy Konami instead.

IMO If Sony corporation blesses Sony Interactive with loads of money, I can see them either buying Kojima Productions outright and/or taking major shares in Konami (7.9B USD), Capcom (6.7B USD), Square Enix (6.2B USD), or Ubisoft (7.3B USD) or doing some combination of these things. All values mentioned are market cap.
Sony Corp has healthy cash reserves of around 20B USD and for this year they are on track to achieve 10B USD in operating profits but these amounts are for the entire organisation and it would be mad to spend it all on for Sony Interactive given their mobile phone division is not going good.
Personally, I want them them to buy some of these companies and take them semi-exclusive (making their games available on both PlayStation & PC) so they are in a stronger position to compete with Microsoft. We know that Bethesda (Zenimax) & Activision Games will go the same way in a few years (PC & XBox exclusive).
Even if we have two big players competing with each other in a big way, I see the customers gaining from it.

Can we please remember console tribalism is not a virtue. Hope with Sony's financial support Bungie are able to put out good games, and that Sony and Microsoft use other means to drive their ecosystem than exclusivity of the games themselves.

I've learned from buying consoles or handhelds is to wait a few years for a better, slimmer, and cheaper version of them.
My first PS1 eventually broke down after 3 years. The 1001 model had issues that needed to be turned upside down to read the discs. The 9001 series I got in 1999 which was Made In Mexico never gave me those issues.
My PSP 1001 had dead pixels and where the d-pad would get unresponsive. Only had 32 MB RAM which meant playing ROMs made it crash all the time. Was also quite heavy and thick. Wasn't the easiest to pocket while my Vita slim is. Speaker on my PSP was also quite soft. Wi-Fi "b" was a joke.
One thing I love about PS4 is how easy it was to develop for. It had specs of a good PC in 2009 so it was underpowered when released in 2013. But PS4 was the easiest to develop for since PS1 and it still pumped out amazing graphics. PS2 is still a nightmare to emulate after 22 years.
My favorite home console is now GameCube thanks to emulation. Wasn't my fav when I actually owned one but it became my fav. My 2nd fav is still Dreamcast. Nintendo and Sega have more replayable games than Sony's which are more like interactive movies.
Favorite gaming devices
1. Galaxy Z Flip 3 (Dolphin MMJ2, Redream, PPSSPP)
2. PS Vita (slim)
3. PlayStation 4 (slim)
My top 2 covers 4 generations of gaming for me with games coming from a dozen systems...
3rd: NES
4th: Genesis, SNES
5th: Jaguar, PS1, N64
6th: DC, GC
Handhelds: GB, GBA, DS, PSP
I deleted AetherSX2. The update made playing Tekken 5 worse which played flawlessly before it. PS2 emulation still annoys me. A weaker system than a GameCube and still poorer emulation because of its complexity?
I felt PS2 was the Walmart of the 6th gen. Covered everything but it had the worst version if multi-plat. Bland colors and graphics. It's inefficient and overrated although I still enjoyed many games on it. I get more emotion from playing Dreamcast and GameCube. Has the better replay value than PS2. More personality than what PS2 offered me.

I'll always side with Sony over Microsoft. I haven't used Windows or any Microsoft product in nearly 6 years. My last was a Lumia 640 in 2016. But over the years, I've preferred Nintendo and Sega more as game developers than Sony.
My favorite PlayStations I've owned...
1. PS Vita slim
2. PS4 slim
3. PS1 phat
4. PS2 phat
5. PSP phat
6. PS3 phat
I'm planning to get a PS5 when it gets slimmer and reasonable price at $200 that I got my PS4 slim for back in May 2017. My fav library and I guess experience owning it is probably still PS1. Then PS2. But my Vita pretty much plays most of my favorite PS1 and PS2 games next to my smartphone.
The PS4 just ended up being my Netflix and external hard drive player. Basically, a smartphone. But I figure to rank it #2 because I did pay with it with my own money and I actually love the design the best from it. At least the slim one. I got my PS3 only 3 years ago and rarely used it.
Vita covers my PS1, PS2, and PSP needs. PS3 covers PS1, PS2, and PS3 needs. Even a couple Dreamcast games. PS4 covers some PS3 and PS4 needs. So Vita and PS4 together covers most what I need to cover. Playing Shenmue on my Vita via Remote Play was pretty cool. But they can be played smoothly on smartphones using Redream.

Chixby, 01 Feb 2022I hope sony buy Ubisoft 😍Despite their games being very "formulaic" and going downhill lately (AC Valhalla is a slog and the DLCs are going from bad to worse), whoever buys Ubisoft and makes them exclusive would definitely force me into their ecosystem.
However, Microsoft doesn't even need to buy Ubisoft and make them exclusive to reap all the benefits, all they need is an agreement to include Ubisoft+ in GamePass Ultimate (similar to EA Play, only better because Ubisoft+ is a better service) -- that would be a major turn of events that is borderline of a pipe dream for any Xbox owner.

If things goes South ways xbox dominates game space then Sony and Nintendo can come together to take down xbox not to mention they are both Japanese game system or, Sony can revive psp and ps vita and give them some major os updated which allow them to download any game from any playstation and expand it's ps plus to whole new level and by the things is going game developer who are acquired by platforms will be force to make it game exclusive to a platform and the move make by xbox takes console wars to a whole new level and this could affect how game can be multi platform and it's accessibility
