They only release a handful few phones every year but they focus on software optimization. Sony's battery optimization algorithm is simply the best I have ever experienced on any Android smartphone to date.

They can bring new generation every 2 months, still they say nothing.
Sony was criticized for Z series every 6 months.
Motorola was well when they had G phones with 2 generations per year.
Huawei had nova 4 , 5 and 6 in less than 9 months.
