Weekly poll: should Samsung have kept the Galaxy Note series separate?

06 February 2022
Merging the Note with the Galaxy S Ultra was done to make room for the Z Fold, but did it make things better or worse?

I just want an S Plus with WQHD+ display and SD card slot. I don't care about the cameras at all. It looks like I'm switching back to Sony.
Also, I really don't like the foldables. Too bulky, too big, silly aspect ratio of the main display, no SD card slot, no 3.5mm jack.
Hello Sony! 🌈👽💋

    there was no point in 2 similar flagship development and launch event. foldable lineup is a totally different ecosystem so, a second flagship lineup makes sense for them. besides, all note functions will be recovered in s22ultra. no need to complain.

      IDGAF! Provided Samsung releases a phone with a siloed S Pen and a block design, they can call it whatever the f*ck they want.

      Got to suck for the Ultra fans tho'. They got shafted. You know the S fans who always buy the top-tier, most expensive S phone but don't care much for the S Pen and the Note's squarish design. Everyone acting like the Note series was killed for the Ultra. Nah man. The Ultra variant was killed for the Note. Now the Note wears its name like some old school gangsta.

      The S Ultra
      2020-2021

        I'm indifferent.

          Nah, but the ultra should have been a bit more ultra, to really stand out.

            Samsung usually release the Note phones later in the year,so any phone released to compete with the S series phones,they put better features on the Note phone to challenge these phones released,not everyone is interested in there Flip phones,because of the price of them,so the Note phone later in the year would be better for Samsung,Apple know now what features they need to add there new iPhones to take the advantage over Samsung,What will Samsung now do if the new S22 models aren"t so Succesful as the first thought

              Khamis1990, 06 Feb 2022It was not good for a company to have 2 flaship phone with ... moreDisagreed. Having two separate flagship releases per year at different times is a sensible move. It gives more variety to customers. It also benefits customers who buy phones in the Christmas/Holiday season for their children. They won't have to buy an 8-12 month old phone (Samsung S Series & most other flagships release in Jan-April period). Note Series on the other hand released around Aug, which is much closer to the Holiday season.

              Samsung wasn't the only one who released multiple flagships at different timeslots. Huawei (P & Mate), OnePlus (nonT & T), LG (G & V), etc all followed the same product release strategy. It was a good move.

                Who cares which is what, Galaxy S or Note they all garbage now, downgrading specs every year but increasing prices. For a fact that 3 years old S10 still has no meaningful losses agaisnt s22 says it all. Samsung lost the game long time ago, best move is to move to much more value giving brands like Xiaomi or Relme.

                  The combination of the Note version with the S series is a smart move. But Samsung had to improve the status of the S + and give it cameras and the same screen as the Ultra model. Not everyone needs or wants stills time, but the majority want good cameras and a good screen. I prefer the S + because of its dimensions, weight and flat screen and I would definitely buy it, but because of the quality of the screen and the cameras I will buy the Ultra and I compromise on the dimensions and weight of the smartphone. ☹️
                  Some notes:
                  * S + dimensions are excellent.
                  * Ultra weight not good, too heavy. A smartphone should weigh up to 180 grams! More than that it is no longer comfortable to hold or carry in your pocket.
                  * The ultra-sharp angles had to round them a bit.
                  * Ultra length is not good, too long. And in general the length of a smartphone should not exceed 160 mm, more than that it is too long!
                  * Good width is 75-77 mm.
                  * A good length is 145-160 mm.
                  * Good weight is 150-180 grams.
                  * Front stereotype speakers only and in better quality than what is currently offered in the Galaxy series.

                    Josh , 06 Feb 2022Samsung killed the Note series the moment they started down... moreI personally think the Note10 was fine but the real killer was the Note20. That one was rather midrange than flagship and only existed to upsell the Ultra. Sad that the last Note sucked so hard. 😢

                        Not a big deal tbh, either way S22 Ultra will have inside an S Pen so if someone wants to continue using Note-like device can just buy S22 Ultra.

                          It was not good for a company to have 2 flaship phone with different names,it was a waste of time in manufacturing them all.I think its better now that we have only one name in the flagship of Samsung & that is S series no more confusion among customers.

                            this would have been alright, but they would have made the Plus more capable, equipping it with a quad hd screen, and maybe either same main mensor or a 5x periscope zoom

                              It’s just the name that has been killed though. The S22 Ultra is quite literally the Note 21 Ultra. The design and features are direct upgrades from the Note 20 Ultra so who cares? You still get the same Note experience. Just under the S name and please don’t come to me with “The Note name had a legacy!” a device with its design refreshed yearly cannot have a legacy since it doesn’t have a set design language anyway

                                Now the trouble is over for someone who struggles to decide between a Note and an "S". You got everything in one packege.

                                  Samsung killed the Note series the moment they started downgrading the Note 10 from the Note 10 Plus. It just shows the S series was Samsung's favourite!

                                    Tigolebitties, 06 Feb 2022Note's been famous because of the stylus and S22 Ultra... moreThey either listened to people who bought a Note then proceed to complain about the existence of the stylus or the Note has a software that reports back to Samsung re:usage and saw that it was barely used. So sammy thought most people do not care much about it.

                                      The Samsung Note series had it's own fanbase. I don't think it was a logical move to get rid of the series in favor of their new Ultra series.

                                      Also the reason it was called the Note is because it turned a regular phone into a notepad thanks to it's exclusive S-PEN. "Ultra" on the other hand only implies that it's better than the regular S series phones.
