The past, aka the Galaxy S6.

AnonD-731363, 06 Feb 2022Mistakes??? Biggest mistake was invention of curved screen... moreCurved edges paved way for what's now called foldables....that was a baby step to progress this much imo.
Removing home button wasn't Samsung's fault because by 2017 home button was become irrelevant considering Android has touch capacitive controls in its OS back then and even many manufacturers had adopted to touch controls by replacing the fingerprint sensor to the rear.

great screen - still on par with the latest displays today with my eye (minus the high refresh rate)

good camera - an ok thing specially outdoors, sucks on low light, lack of wide angle can be troublesome.

good storage - limited internal storage, good thing the sd card slot can fill some of the gap. but as time goes on, 32gb of internal storage is almost nothing today, its always full.

almost dead battery - needs to be charged up twice a day. (hek, this is a 6-year old phone!)

buttons are gone, almost - the power and volume rockers starts to fall off randomly, luckily i found it on the floor, twice.

overall, i still love my s7 edge as my daily driver. as long as its working, im never gonna replace this bad boy.

I still remember seeing the top photo of this article from this website. Can you believe it's been SIX years? I would watch Krystal Lora when she was still on Android Authority make camera comparisons between the S7 and the LG G5. I hope GSM Arena does a flashback with the G5 and V20. It's hard to believe the HTC One M7 is already NINE years.

I loved my S7 but overheating issues were common and very annoying. I still miss that phone a lot.

              Mistakes???
Biggest mistake was invention of curved screen.
Its a woprts invention a phone could get because no panzer glass fit the way it should fir on a flat screen and curved edges are very fragile and easy to break.
Removing mome button, 3,5mm jack, sd card slot, eaephones and charger is another mistake of the future samsung loves to do but keeps higher price for no valid reason.

But they are currently good, better than most of the competition if not all (except apple ofc).

What would be a killer feature though is a removable battery like the Galaxy S5, even if the back has to be plastic, with a real metal frame. What I would love is a glass back, but attached with magnets so that removing it is as easy as pulling with a suction cup, like the screen of the thick side iMacs

Is Samsung launching S7 edge again in 2022?

The best thing this phone did was bring back the sd card that the S6 lacked. S6 was a big fail because of that. The S8 brought usb c and Samsung's flagships continued to improve, the until the S21 when they started the downgrade trend that's carrying over to the S22
Who knows, maybe Samsung will one day will start making interesting phones again tho i wouldn't hold my breath

History is fated to repeat itself. will samsung understand their mistake and fix it? I honestly doubt it but let's see if their greed won't blind them.

One reason I I wanted an S7 edge was to try out Gear VR. Man, the experience was mostly horrible. I saw The Incredibles, Whiplash, and an episode of The Walking Dead from it. Every 20 minutes, I needed to take it off because my eyes got watery. It's too damaging to our eyes. I'll never forget the constant updates it needed.

I will say the updates did improve the phone the longer I had it. TouchWiz had more polish right before I sold it which was about 7 months of ownership. But I can't stand glass backs. It got stickier over time. I prefer matte finishes. The phone was pretty durable. It would fall at the side seat of my car constantly with no damage or scratches at all.

I work with a guy that still uses the S7+ as their daily driver, think his wife keeps stealing his upgrades.

Agreed with the article. S7 was more revolutionary than S6, S8 and S9, the latter were just evolutions of their previous generations.

S7 was a message that you can have it all in one phone.
S8 and S9 merely went in the same direction, ringing nothing too significant to the table.

An iPhone SE style phone from Samsung with the design of the S7 would be dope. Give it a USB-C port, the most recent Exynos chip and some more modern RAM and I'd be sold for a competitive price!

I had an S7 Edge. It was probably the best phone I've had. At least considering the features/performance/aesthetics vs release date.
