I think I read some rumours about that being the case next generation SE.

The battery life of the latest iPhone SE is poor. I don't see why a new iPhone SE can't have a 4000 mAh battery. The S21 Ultra has a 5000 mAh battery. The S21 FE has a 4500 mAh battery.

It doesn't matter how it looks, because people buy it for the cheaper price, not design. The only thing that needs improvement is the battery. If you want modern mini designs, you already have iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini.

Yeah, good luck with that logic. I'm on iPhone with A12 Bionic and "only" 3000mAh battery and it lasts freaking forever and I only charge it to 80% for last 3 years. Sure, SE could use a larger battery, but assuming it needs 4000 mAh is silly.

For me the 11 pro is the perfect size and I still can’t get my head around the fact that most of the manufacturers of android phones seem to think they don’t need ANY pocket-sized phones in their line-up.

I would rather see the iPhone SE to adopt a more modern design. The iPhone SE design originates from 2014 and it looks just like my iPhone 6. Wait one year, and take the iPhone 12 mini as basis for a new SE in 2023. Compact and in Apple terms more affordable. But I'm not a CEO, yet am I a strategist. So far, they are still one of the very very few, if not the only one to offer a 16:9 phone with a compact size.

What other 500€ phone gets flagship chipset, all aluminium and glass construction, with probably still one of best haptic feedback in the market and 5+2 years of updates? Most of them use some mid range chipset with plastic backs and next to no software support. Only downsides of iPhone 8 design are big bezels on top and bottom, small battery and camera is showing a bit of an age at this point. But it's still competent enough to go against 50Mpix cameras from today so...
