I have the same problem with the xm4, the drainage is so bad that in my left bud, it only last 1 minute before it switches off due to lack of power. It's insane cos without one bud the noise canceling is barely working. So what use is this ANC buds? Also, I went to SONY customer support and they refuse to fix the issue, the only way is replacing it they are not doing it for me because they said my warranty is over in another country. This is SONY fault with their product they should accept the responsibility and now I'm stuck with an overpriced piece of not functioning garbage after 1 year of usage

Unfortunately, no luck after 2.0.1 update. Same problem persists. And I'm starting to believe that battery drain issue hasn't got anything to do with the software but simply first few batches of the product (mine are bought in Nov 2021) simply have bad batteries that just happened to start malfunctioning around same time a certain firmware version was released - which made people think it's firmware fault. I'm not sure when mine started having issues - it was definitely before the summer this year but not exactly after a fw update. And I still get 4+hrs before my left bud dies. Some people have problems already after 30 mins. Some people have problems with right bud. All this inconsistency makes me once again believe it's bad batteries, and not software. Shame. I wish SONY could look into it, perhaps give discount for the upcoming XM5 in-ear to those who have problems with the old XM4 or whatever. But they will probably remain silent. I think I've had enough of SONY. It's not the same company it used to be. I'll probably go for a more exclusive brand at the end of the year - i was thinking giving a shot to a pair of Bowers & Wilkins.

Firmware 2.0.1 is out. In release notes - not a single word about battery. My problem is not that bad - I still manage to pull off more than 4 hrs before my left bud dies (at that point the right one still has 30+% power left). Also noticing that sometimes the left bud won't charge to 100% but stops at 90. It's warmer than the right one during the recharge cycle and I have reason to believe that the fact it remains at 90 - it keeps draining the charging case. Anyway, I've just flashed them with 2.0.1 - hoping that Sony maybe fixed the problem in this release but still not admiting there was one.

a disaster!! after 2 months and going three times to have my headset repaired, they ended up giving me a new one and it still has the same battery drain issue. do not buy this headset!!

The batterie issue is all around. Just take a look at Reddit...
For what I've read: Sony even changed the RMA rules because they know.
While my WH-1000-XM4 do great, the WF-1000-XM4 are barely usable. The left ear bud lasts only an hour or less...
The WF-1000-XM4 are at the Amazon replacement centre right now. Lucky my I was inside the warranty.

Why are no people talking about the dreadful battery life after software update? And invisible customer service? I hv both wh xm4 and wf xm4. I hv no issue with wh xm4 but wf xm4 is just dreadful. Oh yeah just the connectivity issue with Teams for wh xm4 which was also annoying. For wf xm4, the right earbud falls flat within an hour. Even after latest update supposedly to rectify the battery drain issue, it's still the same. Anyway this brand pissed me off so that i sold wh xm4 and replaced it with Audio Technica. No more Sony for me. Better get something like Bose, Earfun or Jabra for me.

My WF-1000XM4 won't pair with my new iphone 14 pro. My iphone 12 got stolen, and now I am unable to pair with the new phone. I get an error message to check that the power of the device is on. They are fully charged, in my ears, and turned on. Any ideas?

I just got an update to my WF-1000XM4 earbuds firmware, version 2.0, that enables the possibility to turn on Multipoint pairing, ie. to connect to 2 Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
This has been one of the "cons" of may reviewers of these earbuds for many reviewers, although never has been an issue for me.

The foam pieces are great if you have bigger ears, I’ve haven’t had an issue with them. EarPods do not fit my ears and they fall out.

I have these, and would like to know which silicon tips you used? This is my first pair and I don’t have any other brand. Is it possible to buy them cos like you said, these aren’t comfy. Thanks in advance

Anonymous, 13 Feb 2022I completely disagree with what is said about cheaper optio... moreAnd I disagree with you, as a sound engineer and producer that's worked in many major studios I've learned that the experience of listening is subjective, and most people don't have perfect pitch or any idea of where sound should be in a soundscape, they listen to what they are most used to, now those who can discern at higher skill sets will tell you why names like Sony, Sennheiser, Beyerdynamics, AT and AKG resonate. But I do agree with your point that if you just don't have the ability to hear/distinguish certain sound frequencies, just as a colorblind person can't see certain colors, these might be overkill for you.

Posted just the right moment when I needed a replacement for my aged and subpar B&O Beoplay E8 1st Gen 2017 (paid a bomb $300) - sound quality was excellent and that was just about it, everything else is just half-thought and poorly implemented at that.
Read this, got reminded how excited I was with 1000XM3 at its launch and this is better than it! Jumped out half an hour ago and got myself a pair of these XM4s and now floored at how good it sounded and the noise cancellation is unreal for such a compact earbud (compared with Beoplay E8, Denon D1100, and Plantronics Voyager Focus UC headset)!
I'm a happy man.
