AnonD-68354, 08 Jan 2013Good work by the old pioneers Sony! The phone's pretty good... moreThe Sony Xperia Z packs a 2,330mAh battery, good for over 20 days of standby with LTE on and up to 14 hours on 3G. A so-called STAMINA mode turns off data when you turn off the phone. If you want some apps to stay connected even with the screen off (e.g. an IM app), you can add them to the STAMINA white list. Sony is promising a 4x increase in battery life with precise estimates of how long the remaining battery charge will last you (it learns from your usage patterns).

Oh where did i get this.

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2013When i look at the design ext: Button/camera placement ... moreGood work by the old pioneers Sony! The phone's pretty good and is probably Sony's best effort till date! Full marks for the IP57 certification, it's something all other smartphones should have as there r countless phones which get spoiled daily due to the elements! I daresay they've set the tone 4 things 2 come during the next few months! However, it's anybody's guess how fast that 2330 mAh tank would be drained by the 1080p beastie screen and all it's other juice hogging buddies! Smartphones seem to be evolving in all other departments except the battery, which till date is their Achilles' heel!

AnonD-52325, 08 Jan 2013The screen using new optic contrass layer as you can find ... moreSince you mentioned Bravia TV -- Out of curiosity, does this device have "Local Dimming" or "Frame Dimming"? I hope they added those tech on the device. :(

And anyone else at Las Vegas can confirm if this Z and ZL has:

        -xReality Pro
        -Motionflow XR

            Design point of view:

The camera is flushed in the body cover, so scratch is minimised.

Power button is at the side, good insight! as it is easier to press compared to top.

However it seems to be designed with left-handers in mind.. or press vol /power via thumb.

All phones should be designed like this now! as phones are getting large

Even if it just only led backlight. The optic contrass really do their job to make the screen more appeal even in direct sunlight. :-)

I was expecting it would be amoled. But it seems just LED backlit. :/ That is LCD still and all LCD screens suck compared to Amoled. However I was expecting a little more. Now it seems this phone is just a flagship for last years phones, that means it's just to compete with the SIII, but not with the SIV... Other than that even if it is 1080p screen, it's still just a LED backlit LCD...
But Samsung better start moving their asses with their cameras again...

Galaxy S IV might have a tad better specs compared to this Xperia Z, but I don't think it comes anywhere near the beauty of this sexy phone.

Hell yeah, the best screen technology from Sony... Hands down, I'm really keeping a close eye on this device.

                                    -5 Inch 1080-HD Screen.
                                    -Bravia Engine Mobile 2.
                                    -Timescape UI+.

Although, not mentioned, I'm pretty much sure it has xReality Pro Mobile Display on it (considering the fact that it is an HD display).

On my previous comment I was kinda disappointed about it running on JB 4.1 -- its a good thing that they plan to update it to JB 4.2 :D

jake, 08 Jan 2013hope this "phablet" trend ends soon. i feel like ... moreThis trend is continue because there is no way to squeeze more tech into small phones, and yet have battery life.

Phones that decide not to grow will get hated by geeks... sadly but true.. nowadays everyone is looking at specs blindly.

Once there is break thru in battery tech.. maybe we will see the phone shrink again.
