Xiaomi had the "courage" as the first company to be upfront on rehashing stuff.

The phone is the same, but last year phone will have updates until one year less than this one.
Pure greed move to make people upgrade the a new phone if they want to get updates.

Bloody hell. This just reminds me of how stupid it was for Huawei to re-release the P8 Lite 2 years later as... you guessed it... the P8 Lite 2017. Back then I had the original and seeing the news about made me think "What's the f-ing point??? Who's to buy this when there's the P10 series including a Lite version aswell?".
Here we see the same thing, except lazier. At least Huawei changed up the specs to differentiate between the P8 Lite vs P8 Lite 2017, whereas Xiaomi just copy-pasted the specs and called it a day. I bet they did this to ride the popularity train of the phone model and ditch the original model owners by ending software updates for them.

Probably due to component shortages. So instead releasing a Redmi 11, Xiaomi just re-packaged their old inventories.

AnonD-1022549, 15 Feb 2022Well then, what's the point?Profits.
Apparently, evil Apple and Samsung are not the only OEMs who care about profit margins.
Selling last year's model with a simple digit change is a sneaky way to get regular buyers to buy thinking they're buying a latest release. At least, this should please the "muh, environment" loudmouths!
