Mediatek to launch Dimensity 8100 in March

This is the very same Dimensity 8000 platform, but with a new name.

- Dimensity 9000 is the well known chip with the X2 processor and Mali G710 GPU
- Dimensity 8000 swaps the X2 processor to a A710 core and the GPU is now a G510
- Dimensity 7000 was spotted being the lower tier of the current line with 4x A78 Core at 2.8 Ghz, 4x A55 Core and having the Mali GPU 510 too.

From this, is pure speculation:
I don't be surprised if the rumours of the Helio G96 succesor are somehow fake and is a Dimensity 920 but with only 4G. If that is true, it might be a decent upgrade.

A potential succesor of the Dimensity 920 might be a "Dimensity 5000" with the same 2 A78 or even A710 cores with Mali G510 MP4. It might be Q3 or Q4.

And as for the bottom tier, being the succesor of the Dimensity 700, there might be a "Dimensity 3000" with dual A78 cores and Mali G310 or even Mali G510 MP2. And with a 4G version called "Helio G89" with the same config but in 4G flavour.

No details available on global launch. It is easy for Mediatek to get a batch of 100K or 500K chips manufactured for a short period of time with TSMC's latest/greatest node, make it available to few OEMs for just one market and then hail that as great achievement. It is another thing to get millions of them manufactured at scale at a reasonable cost and make it available worldwide. Let Mediatek produce flagship SoCs at scale at reasonable cost, then they will earn respect at top-end SoC maker.

            On other hand MTK don't impose such restrictions instead they sell at lesser Price.

                  All the people claiming the D9000 is vapourware, how many 8G1 phones are internationally available RIGHT NOW??
                  From what I can gather, maybe 2-3, one Moto phone, and maybe the GT2Pro, etc!!
                  All the others are either China exclusive or like the S22 haven't started shipping yet!
                  And comparing the D9000 launch with D1000 is clearly ill-informed, the D1200 launch was better than the D1000/L/+ as many more models were available to buy in non-China countries.
                  So the D9000 is logically bound be better or on par, but nowhere close to the D1000 situation! They think that in just 2 years, MTK will be able to convince OEMs to put their chip in top-shelf phones in large quantities! Even AMD took till 4000 series to properly enter the laptop segment!
                  And obviously they conveniently ignore the manufacturing side, TSMC is probably working much harder than Samsung in completing their orders, and Apple being one of their biggest customers outright booking a large chunk of the capacity probably doesn't help either. But all that aside they'd also ignore the global chip shortage in general.
                  The D1200 was a premium mid-range chip competing with the 865/870 (heck even Tensor & E2100 in some cases, the 888 was definitely much faster but we all know at what cost) & the D9000 will comfortably compete with the top dogs this year.
                  And for my argument of "international availability" I'm 'forced' to ignore the NA market because everyone knows the pathetic situation there in terms of good vfm options (apart from the A52s)!

But the rumors are not clear whether it would be launched on Feb-24 or it would be available internationally (the Dimensity 9000 variant) at the same time as Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. It is just 1 week from now, so we will see what happens. If Dimensity 9000 powered phone is indeed made available internationally after 1 week, I would have no option but to apologize for the vaporware comment. Let us see what happens after 1 week.

                              So it was first called the Dimensity 7000, then renamed to Dimensity 8000, and now Dimensity 8100. Whatever the official name ended up being one, I'm curious to see the performance against the Dimensity 1100 since it retains the two core cluster arrangement.

                                    Many such decisions are contractually binding

                                    You must be super unaware.. Qualcomm has even gone as far as force bundles of their 8 series with their 6 and 7 series

                                    And have some malicious clauses , penalties for using chipsets from other brands

                                    And also based on your logic since mediatek dominates in market share it just shows OEMs know mediatek is the better SOC brand

                                      Where the hell is the Dimensity 9000 Mediatek.

The reality is - Mediatek is just NOT capable of making their Flagship SoC available in large-enough quantities to OEMs so that it is available in shipping products internationally.

                                        Mediatek announces something great (Dimensity 1000, 9000), and then it is NOT available for large periods of time (6-8 months) during its peak period (first year after launch, until the next generation SoCs become available). This is exactly what would be called as "Near Vaporware" as the other person rightly pointed out. I just exaggerated it a bit and called it as "Vaporware" without any qualifiers.
