Exclusive: MediaTek to release its first 6nm G-series chip in Q3

17 February 2022
It's quite similar to the current Helio G96 SoC.

Sort by:

Helio G100, Helio G950, Helio G960, or Helio G9U?

They should make G96 with 3 G57 cores and G88 with 2 G57 graphics cores.

      Thank God it's Non 5G

Wereweeb, 18 Feb 2022695 is essentially a 6nm 750G, so no. Cortex-A78 big cores ... moreUnfortunately, this new MediaTek G SoC is not that.

Muthu, 17 Feb 2022Yup. As long as it is used in phones that cost $100 to $200... moreI would say no more than $140 / $150 personally. Around $200 you can easily get newer cortex cores.

I'm starting to get annoyed by these companies releasing new chips with the same old OLD cortex cores. The majority of the benefits come from new architecture. They release the same old architecture on a new process node and act like we are supposed to get excited. A75 and A76 are DOA as far as I'm concerned. A77 should be the bare minimum.

It would hardly seem worth it if mediatek is keeping much of the chipset the same.

Danny301, 18 Feb 2022Tough crowd. I don't understand the complaints. Not ev... moreThe "next" generation is always have better efficiency.
If you Mediatek want higher efficiency they have use A710 or A78 with perhaps 2.2GHz on 6nm. Perhaps 1x A710 + 7 A510.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2022680 and 695 really badactually both chips are good but 695 is meant for phones below ₹20k whereas 680 is meant for phones below ₹13k.

Anonymous, 17 Feb 2022680 and 695 really badNope. It depends on your expectations. SD 680 is a very efficient SoC for low-end phones. If it is used in higher priced phones, it is the fault of OEMs, not Qualcomm's.

Mampara, 17 Feb 2022MediaTek should just rename the G96 a G75 as a replacement ... moreMediatek already did that
                            it's called dimensity 700

Tough crowd. I don't understand the complaints. Not everyone needs top performance, If this can offer more efficiency and battery life to the midrange class, then I say it's a win.

That makes no sense. It's Useless 💔

Would be better if they Added New GPU and CPU Cores instead, then it'll be worth the upgrade

MediaTek should just rename the G96 a G75 as a replacement for outdated P60/P70. Then developed a new G95 with 4 G57 graphics cores as a flagship 4G chipset based on 7nm process.
