Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra's 45W charging doesn't really make a difference

20 February 2022
Samsung is so far behind the competition when it comes to charging speeds it can barely see it in the distance.

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2022Qualcomm phone uses single cell at 65W. It charges cooler... moreFirst, which qualcomm phone? Wtf
Second, I do not recommend Xiaomi 12 pro. Thermals (because chipset) and software are bad.
Third, I wouldn't be surprised if that 10% is because the chipset, makes perfect sense.

[deleted post]And how do you know what charger they used?

Only a naive fool would be expecting better from Samsung.

Raja, 20 Feb 2022Samsung is overpriced junk and they are taking advantage of... moreSamsung is pure awesome… Software, security, build, cameras.. all just excellent.. price is also much lower than apple.

Wow.. the 25w charger is actually amazing.. considering, my old oneplus 7t pro with it’s warp 30T charger could get around 54% in 30 mins that too with a smaller battery..

Anonymous, 20 Feb 2022I only had to change battery after 4 years. Phone powered... moreI sure you don't know how much battery life decreased on that phone, if you are not lying of course.
And about the other thing, yes, that's why they use double cell lithium battery instead one cell.

For extra info regarding the two chargers; EP-TA845 = old 45W charger. EP-T4510 = new 45W charger.

It's a good lesson to never always believe what you hear.

I'm more impressed by the 25W charger than disappointed by the 45W one.

We know what we need to do now. Buy the 45W and get futureproofed, or just stick with the 25W charger. For such a dinky brick to hit 65% in 30 minutes is rather astonishing. Maybe they'll do the same for the 45W brick in the future; optimize it like they did the 25W charger.

Mapantz, 20 Feb 2022Yes, they did. "original Samsung 45W"Ok, so the one that was announced with the Note10+ and S20 Ultra or the one they released this year?

Not a Samsung fan, on the contrary I'm happiest with a LG G8x, but here are my observations:
                        1. Maybe a software update will do the trick for S20 series, because the chipsets, at least the Snapdragon versions are capable, isn't it?
                        2. Maybe its buried deep within settings, as in my own G8x?
                        3. Maybe the charger or the cable you used aren't both compatible or recognised for 45W?

                        4. or Maybe Samsung did actually screw up such a thing, despite being such a huge company, now how does it happen in beyond my guess.... How can we attribute a reason to such a big marketing mistake? No idea... !

Either ways, let's wait and watch.

You need to specifically use the new 45W adapter (EP-T4510) because the old one EP-TA845 had some throttling issues which made it max out at 28W resulting in the minimal difference between the 25W charger. It is not clear which one you tested for this article.

You also need to use the 5A rated cable that is sold separately (comes with the new adapter).

Samsung follows apple way to make great advertising on paper they give you a nice cake full of fruits and sweet caramel vanilla etc.
In reality you get cheapest possible cake from Asda or Lidl or Poundland or Eurostore etc couloured with tons of artifical colours to be disguised like super expensive cake worth many times over.
But in reality it will taste like a mixed mud with bloat sand and some rotten fruits.
                              Thats the badass reality.

I doubt they'd outright lie, there is probably some science behind it. That being said, I'm perfectly happy even with my Note 20 Ultra 22.5W charging speeds, it does charge very fast (one hour to be precise). Most people don't turn off fast charge and leave their phones on the charger overnight which isn't good so why would these people need real 45W charging is beyond me.

While all these ultra fast speeds definitely are fun to play with they also degrade phone batteries at very accelerated speeds and that is something even phone companies accept. Battery turns into toast in under two years

Samsung is overpriced junk and they are taking advantage of their brand popularity by offering less specs in higher price just like apple

Android were always a lot better than IOS.
Not only lot better but lot more user friendly too compatible with litterary everything without third party bloatware like itunes.
Nowdays harmony is perfect and will be ven more if more brand swill using it.
