A little embarrassing this tactic, but typical for American companies. It's exactly like that boy (I won't say who), that did a space walk, with an expensive watch around his wrist, over the space suit. What can you do? Rich people and companies have some different visions.

Apple is not even using state of the art mobile cameras, there are much better modules out there. Why are they pretending that they can compete with pro stuff when they are not even trying to compete with the top of the crop mobile stuff?
One would expect them to -at least- be on the top of the mobile stack before challenging the pro stuff. Alas they are not even trying, not seriously, they merely pay an inordinate amount for ad purposes these days. If only they were to use that amount of money to research and implement the best type of sensor in a mobile package...
Sure they would still not be able to trully challenge the pro crowd, but they would at least move mobile photography forwards. The Chinese + Google has done more to move mobile photography/video forwards in the last 2-4 years than the richest company on earth (Apple). It's ridiculous really, and what rubs more salt to the wound is the fact that they pretend to be at the top of their game despite not even trying as hard as the rest of the field...

That's pretty alright. But it still has almost all the traits of a phone camera. The extreme sharpness, the very high dynamic range, the harsh transition between shades etc etc. Cinematic cameras are simply different philosophically and their target end results can't be achieved with a phone.
