Maybe if Samsung will make a S8 Mini tablet with high-end specs. But that will never happen. Because, even if some people want smaller sized phones or tablets, in Android world everything is only "big" (big displays, big batteries, big RAM, big chargers, etc.). And majority of people accept this. #sad

IDK depending on the price I may still buy this anyway if it's small enough. I really hate iOS.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2022Why Realme put such SoC?? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ There goes my hopes to... moreI'm in the same boat. First small Android 8" tablet with decent specs gets bought. I would probably sell my iPad Mini 6 ASAP after. That new Lenovo is too big IMO.

Nickname optional, 23 Feb 2022Lol, SD870. Even the 350EUR Xiaomi Pad 5 doesn't come ... moreRealme will never have the name recognition of those other companies with tablets if they just continue to regurgitate uninteresting devices that already have numerous competitors in the segment.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2022Exactly, if this was a samsung tab A mini or something I... moreI would buy it if... It was smaller... Had 6GB RAM and a decent Snapdragon SoC with atleast A77 cores. That way you could do a custom rom if necessary. I would pay probably up to $400 for that even with no updates. Now my idea small tablet would be the size of the iPad Mini 6 with A78 cores, 8GB of RAM and Chrome OS. I would no brainer buy that for up to $600. First company to make a small Chrome OS tablet with decent specs can practically name their price from me.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2022yeah low end tablets suck, but have u used a higher end and... moreI have been waiting on a new compact Android tablet with decent specs for a few years now. This Realme Pad Mini ain't it. I ended up caving and buying an iPad Mini 6 late last year. The performance is great, but there is not a day that passes without me cursing saying iOS is f****** trash atleast once. Notifications are bad. It changes my keyboard from GBoard to stock almost randomly. All browsers are Safari which is bad. AppStore has automatic updates enabled, but they don't update automatically. There are too many weird issues that just don't exist on Android. Even after this rant... I would still buy it again because there is literally not one small Android tablet made within the last 3 years with decent specs. The new 8.8" Lenovo tablet Y700 gaming tablet looks to be bigger than my 10" Chromebook Duet in a lot of ways and this Realme Pad "Mini" is 8.7" with poop specs. I hate iOS so much but there is really no other alternative for a decent small tablet.

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2022Why Realme put such SoC?? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ There goes my hopes to... moreThis would launch at a lower price than it lol, it may be priced cheaper than the tab a7 lite, which starts at $174 for the lte 3/32 model, realme might make it $25-50 honestly so it might be cheaper too

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2022Ipad screens suck compared to something cheap even like tab... moreNo, they're not. Besides, you just mentioned the only Samsung tablet (mid-range and low-end) that has an Amoled screen, lol.
All their tablets (with the exception of S series, like S4, S6, S7+ and the recent S8+) have Lcd displays. And even though they are not bad, they are not better than those of Apple.
Not to mention, the entry level Samsung tablets are a joke (even though they are cheaper than the entry level iPads). Had 3 of them and all had very bad displays. Even a budget Realme or Xiaomi phone with Oled displays had better quality.
Yeah, their flagship tablets are nice, but their mid-range and budget offerings are not impressive at all. Also, they are over priced for the chipsets they give (don't forget they used the "mighty" Exynos 9610 for 2-3 years in a row in both tablets and smartphones). And even now in the S7 Fe they are using a not so impressive SD750. And that tablet cost around 530EUR where I live. At that price you can find a newish iPad Air 2020 with A14, which is better in every way.

I guess it depends on what you do on your tablet. For media viewing Samsung are better.

Why Realme put such SoC?? 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ There goes my hopes to buy 8 inch Android tablet with decent performance hardware 🙄 Guess had to stick with iPad.

Looks like something that Leeco would've made

I'd love to see Realme releasing a flagship-grade variant with at least Snapdragon 870 chipset, 6GB RAM, and 128GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. That can easily be a worthy contender to the Apple iPad Mini.

Being that this tablet will cost around what their Realme Pad cost (that means around 200EUR), I am not surprised.
This an entry level tablet, nothing more. Probably in the same category with Samsung A7 Lite or some Lenovo cheap tablet.
Realme doesn't have the influence of Samsung or Xiaomi in the Android tablet world. They can't make a 500EUR tablet, because not so many people will buy it, at least not yet. They are testing the waters for now.

Anyway, in my opinion there are not better tablets on the market than the iPads. The entry level iPad with its A13 chipset beats anything on the market at that price point (even Samsung mid-range tablets). Even a 3 years old iPad Air from 2019 with A12 chipset is better than an Android cheap tablet (and it cost 300-350EUR on second hand market and has at least 3 years of software updates ahead).
