So, whats fashion for you? sliders?, please, none of the for factors can be really called fashion because all of them are just too over used, if you want fashion go for a spin phone (then again, is almost impossible to find a nice phone in this form factor). That comment was just inappropriate, even more because this are kind of professional phones, do you see much clams in this sector? and clams with translucide cover with touch screen? please... I just don't say a nasty word because my comment would be deleted. Anyway, I like both phones ans actually, I think they are very unique, although I still prefere the a1200, it was just perfect in form, but like is said in te article, we wont get any of these in europe, no wonder motorola is falling apart, they just refuse to sell the good phones to the europeans!

I dont agree that clam shell is totally out of fashion. But what is the deal with these two phones. Have they forgotten to get in touch with reality with these two designs? My personaly opinion is that moto have let it slip for too long and have ballsed it up with realising such fugly phones like these. Sorry moto fans, truely is personal opinion.

They already have got a set better than these(you can look in moto pages)A1200,but it has a 2 megapixel camera thats it,good attempt to lose the market

Anonymous, 24 Jun 2008Seems like some people here don't understand the potential ... moreYou are quite right about what their main customers want NOW. But in about a years time, there will be some serious changes. Most CDMA networks are now calling it quits and (expensively) building GSM networks.
The reason is that CDMA is dying. Companies such as Sony Ericsson have given up supporting CDMA years ago, and Nokia has at least given up developing for CDMA.
I live in New Zealand and currently we have one GSM and one CDMA network. Our CDMA network is being forced to change to GSM because its American and Australian counterparts (from whom they source their phones and technology) are swapping over. Its an expensive process but they have absolutely no choice if they want to stay in the game.
So bringing this back to the subject, is this a wise choice for Motorola? Well, yes and no. They may sell a few of these now, while the changes haven't taken effect, but they've spent money and time developing this technology which is to be phased out in a year or maybe two. I think it would have been a better option to aim at GSM and try to regain the markets that really matter. The truth is that a huge majority of the world is on GSM networks, so why not tap into the larger market? Theres is more money in it.

Seems like some people here don't understand the potential customers for CDMA for Motorola...
2 of the biggest markets for Motorola are US (if not the American regions) and China, both of these places have "both" GSM and CDMA networks.
If you are Moto's development team and you know about 2/3 of your customers may need both GSM and CDMA, what would you do?
These "Mings" may not be as powerful as some others, though when will we ever see any touch screen phone from the No.1 brand...particularly in Ming's size? How about supporting both GSM & CDMA from the Japanese / Europe crossover brand?

I am not sure why Motorola feels it necessary to have 2 near identical phones separated by a diference as odd as CDMA and GSM support. Maybe they know something that I do not (that the MING was really popular in CDMA countries).

This company Motorola nearly went Bust an this just shows you why they produce so many crap products that do not impress people now days,just Grow Up Motorola or you keep singing your favourite song all the "WERE ON THE ROAD TO NOWHERE" it was made by Talking Heads an thats whats this company have got to do alot to sort themselves out or they will be Finished Soon

I give you a B for effort Motorola. I'm not really saying Motorola should roll over and die. All I'm saying is leave making cell phones to the big boys and just continue making walkie talkies.
