-Trix-, 26 Feb 2022"Sorry man but i am right." No you are wrong, ... moreSame with me. I always buy phones in retail at full price. I spend 120€ a year (10€ a month) for my carrier plan and I have no obligations to it and also no benefits like "free/cheaper phones". I still get unlimited calls and texts and 60GB of data which is more than I need for my use since it's combining with the WIFi at home.

Because of that, I basically save from 360 to 480€ every single year opposed to having some ridiculous 50€ or even 100€ a month plan that some have and get a bit cheaper phone. Basically in 3 years time I save up for iPhone Pro Max or Galaxy S Ultra assuming I'd replace one every 3 years. I basically paid off my iPhone XR in 2 years from plan savings alone without being nerfed with data in any way. At 3,5 years, I'm now doing actual savings with plan and phone included since I'm sticking with the XR. I'll probably grab new phone at 5 years mark or something unless something changes dramatically like having issues with current one or some dramatic redesign with iPhone...

Super Secret, 26 Feb 2022Man but you really should read it all. I know we all are ... moreSeriously, that’s your argument?!?!? One might as well just not buy a smartphone at all, and save the whole freaking lot. And that thinking can apply to practically any product category.

People will make their own choices based on their own desires and means dude. So I go back to my original point, you don’t have to like or agree with it, you simply have to accept it.

There are more smartphones than people.

Super Secret, 26 Feb 2022Man but you really should read it all. I know we all are ... more"I know we all are different but to be honest most 300 eur phoens does same tricks as 1000 eur phones."

Just like 1000e car do same tricks than 10 000e. Or 500e tv does same than 3000e TV. It still doesn't mean the experience is same. In my opinion smartphone is one of the easiest things to pay a lot, you use it so much everyday so why wouldn't you make it as good as it can be. And that's exactly happening, more and more people want to pay for iPhone experience and ecosystem.

Super Secret, 26 Feb 2022Sorry man but i am right. Time ago there were a poll of h... more"Sorry man but i am right."

No you are wrong, sales show it, if most people would upgrade 1-2 years, sales for smartphone companies would be 3-4 times higher. For example Apple sold last year like 240 million iPhones or something like that and there's one billion iPhone users out there. See how wrong your numbers are.

"Looking back, in the fall of 2016, just over 60% of US consumers replaced their smartphones after two years or less, according to CIRP surveys. By the second quarter of 2020, that number had dropped to about 47%. People were holding on to their devices for more time, and the lifespan of the cell phone was longer as a result." It was already 47% in 2020 now it's even less. And we talk about US where people buy phones with carrier plan, i don't know if that's a thing anywhere else? I always pay full price of phone or anything i buy.

If you check country by country land by land you will see more than 100 countries worldvide average mothly salary is less than 800 or 1000 euros and from which 60% goes just to bills.
Then you have food, drink, grocery etc.
Any individual have either to live on loans or rob someone.
            No other choice is possible.
Maybe 0,5% are feeling lucky and will win something but thats it.

For example buying redmi K50 for 300-400 is okay.
Spending 1200 on S22 Ultra or latest flagship where for 800 bucks anyone could have nice 1-2 weeks long vacation if he / she comes from country without sea or country like Island where msot of the year is very cold. Tons of examples.
If its not hollidays or vacation then new TV or PC etc.
              Countless of examples.

Time ago there were a poll of how often you upgrade your phones.
Most people voted for 1-2 years up to 3 years.
                Depends on type fo device.
S series last longer for example but people who had J series by Samsung bought new phone every 2 years or less to prevent laggs bugs freezes et.

Only top specced flagships gets maybe 3 updates now.
Past 2 years it was still 2 nothing else.
Any midranger device gets 1-2 updates and are done for.
Most people i mean people over age of 40 have no idea what updates are or dont know they are important to keep their phone healthy.
                  People just dont care.
They install typical basic stuff they need and then dont care for the rest of the phone days.
Any good salesman at mobile shop will tell you this.

Most people cant afford 1500 eur device shed this sum from wallet and buy the phone without bothering what they will eat or how they will pay bills until next wages.
Most people in 206 countries around the globe buy on a carrier monthly plans which alst 2 years and then they can get new device and sells old one.
Most people will do exactly this because those most people if they had to shed money from wallet will probably buy a phone up to 200-300 eur price tag.

In current modern world where flagship grade devices cost 800-1500 noone will shed so much money for a phone.
From 206 countries around the globe only maybe top 25 earn enough on monthly salary they can afford 1500 eur device and will have money to spare for bills food etc. Rest of the world is happy with 200-300 eur devices which does same tricks like the top specced models.
Thats the truth. You must look at the peopel from all sides unntil you make your claims.
And even if Samsug gives 4 android updates which they will not do. Maybe 3. It will only last for S series. A series and M series will get maybe 1 or 2 but thats it.
And another thing. Most people of age of 40 and more have no ideas what updates are.
They are just happy they have their phone for basic stuff like messaging, dialing maybe facebook, whatsapp, viber, messenger etc but thats it.

Iphone sales are high becuase Apple forced people by fake advertising to buy. They tells you whathewer you want to hear even if its not true just to buy.
Then you buy and get nothing extra as reward. Apple legendary battery switch saver is just a good example how to blame people.

Vertu was only premium brand ever made.

K50 by Redmi is equal in specs to 800 eur samsung or Sony flagship phones and cost 300.
Nubia Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro cost 500 and are equal to 1000-1500 eur android phones in specs or even better in certain aspects.

I'm at 3,5 years mark and I have no plans to replace it because of said updates. Phone is still super fast and does everything really well. If I had Android phone, the fact I wouldn't be getting any updates for a long time at that point would make me want to use that device way less than now. It's literally updates and the support that keeps me interested in same old device for longer. Hell, I await every fall with excitement to see what new cool stuff I'll get without paying a cent for it. I'm curious and I'd be willing to go with many devices released in between, but every time I thought about it and decided not to. For the first time in some 12 years of owning smartphones. I just have no reasons to do that. Not from hardware perspective or software perspective.

Majority? :D no they don't small portion swap their phones yearly or other year, average is now 3 years and soon it's 4 years. Why you think Samsung suddenly gives 4 year support for S22 family? Because they know phones get so minor updates nowdays that people don't need to upgrade anymore and no-one want to pay big money for device which is being left behind 2 years later. This is big reason why iPhone sales are so high, easy to buy device which get support for many years. Heck last year i updated my old 6s to iOS15 which is just crazy.

But not everybody is like that.
Like 25% of population worldwide is on verge of poorness barely surviving each passing day.
Another 50% lives from one wages to another happy enough if they can spare 10% of their tottal monthly sallary for a worse times.
