Anonymous, 26 Feb 2022X1 literally for benchmarks and nothing more. The only logic... moreI don't think that's entirely true. Android phones have 8 cores, some had even 10 before (Mediatek's Helio X series) and they all performed worse than just hexa core Apple's chipsets.

If you look at A15 Bionic chipset structure it has 2 high performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. And because both chipset and OS are their own, they are fine tuned to perfection to really use those performance cores when needed and efficiency cores for everything else in the background. I honestly think Android and apps on it just aren't tuned well to operate on 3 cluster chipsets and they default to X1/X2 cores way too much for things it could (or should) be running on mid level cores instead.

Hope they can provide another one with 2 less A78 cores as a midrange chipset.

s0c, 25 Feb 20224 cores a78... yes this may drain your battery fasterDepends a lot of the apps used.

It should be LPDDR5 in the article, not LDDR5

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2022X1 literally for benchmarks and nothing more. The only logic... moreI kind of agree with you here. A78 is a beast. X1 isn't really providing a lot of real world benefit over A78 on a phone. Ultimately mobile devices can't really leverage what they are capable of. So far all of the X1 chips seem to be running a bit hot in reviews from people that examine this kind of thing.

For all those people saying these Dimensity chips are not good IRL... Buy one and stop talking about things you don't know. I have a Dimensity 1100 phone and it is not lacking for performance in anyway. This is by far way more than what most people need.

This phone is not my primary phone because I care way more about software than performance, but the SoC is not a problem point in any manner. You need to do your homework and stop just blindly trusting corporations.

Its powerful gaming chip on budget

It is still and won't really catch up to the SD brand just yet. It is more than just clockspeed. But kudus on the effort, MT.

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2022This will be interesting given that they're not using ... moreX1 literally for benchmarks and nothing more. The only logical way we can consistently use x1 is on Chromebook or some arm powered windows laptop like a raspberry Pi.

Oh also for a good pocket/room heater.

This will be interesting given that they're not using the newer X1 core. If they can get the same performance then maybe the X1 core in the 888 isn't being used most of the time. X1 core seems like a big fail and MediaTek has caught on to that.
