Apple's 2022 iPhone SE to start at $300

26 February 2022
That's $99 less than the base price of its predecessor - iPhone SE (2020).

Wrong, most people who are looking 300-350e phone don’t know what they want. Now they might have there iOS option too and of course lot of people going to be interested about that, let’s not forget that lot of people buy Android phone just because it’s their only option in certain price range. Lot more people would buy iPhone if they could.

People owning iPhone 7, 8, SE1, SE2 will look at this iPhone SE3. So basically, people who are already in Apple ecosystem will be interested in this phone. Still enough to make some nice profits.
As for improved, what more can you improve at that price? People have the iPhone Mini's if they want better small iPhones.
But after poor sales of the Mini series, it clearly showed that people do not want expensive small iPhones, they want cheap small iPhones. Even if that means older design, or some small downgrades in other departments (like Lcd display and so on).
If they will shrink the bezels a little bit, put a better battery (something like 2200mAh), a better chipset, an improved camera and keep the same price, it will be definitely a win for Apple (in sales anyway). I actually like more the "home button design" than the "notch design" (at least for smaller iPhones).

This is good but I feel apple can do more with the SE lineup but they don't just want to because they know in the end it will sell like crazy

A fast running phone with older software or one that is starting to slow down but with latest features. Me I would rather get a new phone with new chip instead of using a lagging phone because it is frustrating to operate a lagging decide. But I guess a long support has become a hallmark feature of iPhones so that's why Apple does it or idk. It's hard to say if iphones are still usable after their long update cycle because most people buy another phone before that. A user commented a while ago of their iPad being still good after 5 years but iPhones are an another story tho cause phone

The 8 moved the logo (insofar as that matters; but case design for the hole in the back had to change). Most importantly, the case of the 8 is identical to the SE2's, to the extent that all parts save for the battery and mainboard are interchangeable, even the external chassis and display. (I won't start on how good this is for the consumer -- iPhone 8 parts are dirt cheap!)

The 6 started a new design language that was still evident as recently as in the 11 line, but it would be unfair to say it is the same design as the iPhone 7's or 8's.

Of course, talking about second hand prices, with 12 months warranties. True, that a new iPhone SE2 cost 450EUR, but you can't compare a new phone price with a second hand phone price (for fairness of the comparison).
Also, they are totally different phones. iPhone XS Max is better in every way. Somebody who will look at an iPhone XS Max will never considered as alternative an iPhone SE2 (is not logical for me).

Is just ... moreThere is a difference between what Apple wants and what is a market reality. Something which was good idea in 2016 and an OK one in 2020, could be a terrible in 2022. Either SE formula needs to be revised or the pricing needs to be adjusted. A15 is great but it might not be prove as unique selling proposition for SE in light of updated and competitive priced Android mid-ranges of same price range ($300-$500). Apple needs to improve SE2 deficiencies, namely battery or it could be hard to recommend in 2022.

Why would they go through all this trouble when they could simply NOT give any updates past just 2 or 3 years, you know, like all Android phone makers do it? Ever thought it's also not phones getting slowed down as much as it's phones not keeping up with all the new features? I'm well aware that my iPhone XR can use the cool neural language recognition stuff and text recognition on photos, but since it's doing it on older and slower Neural Engine, it'll take a bit longer than on latest phones. Is that Apple's fault or Apple's generosity for giving such features to older phones? I don't know, you tell me...

I had at some point an iPhone 12 mini. I returned it after 1 week back to the store, because I didn't liked the design (that notch type design is useless for small displays). And I paid for it 3 times more than an iphone 8 for example (for nothing, because you can't even take full advantage of the Oled screen).
The only thing that they need to improve in the iPhone SE3 is the battery capacity. If they put something around 2200mAh, the battery life will be at least at the level of iPhone 13 mini, which is pretty respectable.
As for your totally wrong comment about battery life (probably you watch too many so called "tech youtubers" who usually use those phones for 3-7 days maximum). I can tell you the real life experience of a moderate usage of an iPhone 8 with 90% battery health --> is 3.5 - 4h of screen on time. And for an iPhone SE2 with 100% battery health --> is 4.5 - 5h of screen on time. That's more than enough to get you to the end of the day with light to moderate usage. And nobody is buying a 4.7" iPhone for more than moderate usage. Majority of those people have an iPad too, for more heavy usage (gaming, movies, web browsing, etc.). So yeah, this phone will sell pretty good, if they will manage to increase the battery life (with 1h of screen on time for example).
