Why is it out of stock since so many days? I've been waiting to buy this phone since past month and not able to due to the 8z being out of stock.

Only question is how many Android updates they'll give, since the issue is not hardware. Phones in this price range are still launching with 888 or 870. If Asus can step up their Android Update game to 3 years, it's a great phone to buy even in 2022. And I don't know how people come with 'should be below 30k, should be below 35k', etc. You very well know why your average Chinese phone is cheap: first is the bloatware and their own App Store, the second is purchasing mass produced stuff in bulk which they share across their sub-brands. Why you think most phones have have 6.4 or 6.7 inch display? Because it's cheap, since all phones use it. Why 5.9 inch display is expensive? Because only one brand model uses it. A compact size, a stock android experience, ip68 certification, a headphone jack with DAC, I guess all of it justifies the premium price tag. Not a phone for the mass, not for everyone. But if you're someone looking for a compact phone, and been waiting for this particular phone when there were plenty releases in the market, you should not cheap on it.

The other greatly versatile camera phone which isn't "compact" per se but very much manageable is the X70 Pro, I wish they reduced the price, I might have just bought it over my X7 Max (as it stands the nearly 75% premium is no way worth it!)

I was waiting for Asus to launch this phone in India for the last 1 year.
I wasn't looking for the greatest set of screens, cameras or memory. All I wanted was a compact phone with a reasonable battery (My galaxy S8 used to survive 2 days of use before recharge, as does my Pixel 3). I gave up hope of ever seeing this phone launched in India. I even thought of buying the iPhone 13 (I've always used Android), simply because of its compact size (something most android manufacturers seem to have forgotten exist).
I finally preordered the Samsung S22 (It is a pocketable size). Don't think I will be cancelling my order in favour of the 8z, simply because of the upgrade cycle that Samsung has promised.
On a related note, I think there exists a large untapped market for a midrange compact Android phone.
