Thus being said, I will never buy an expensive phone from Xiaomi, Realme, Motorola, etc.
I buy Xiaomi or Realme phones only in mid-range category (300-500EUR). That's where they should be and that's where their focus need to be. Like they did in the past.

Only flagships from Xiaomi get regularly updates (for 2 years, MAYBE 3). Budget ones get maximum 1 year of Android updates and 2 years of security updates. The same like everybody else.
Not to mention, they do not have an officially software update policy for their models (the same like Realme), on their websites or anywhere else. In other words, you just need to wait and see if you will receive something.
On Samsung website you can see clearly which model qualifies for which Android or security updates. And not only the new ones. Even A50 is still receiving updates, and is 3 years old phone. The same like S9 series and that one is 4 years old.
Anyway, I am not saying Samsung is a good company, they did a lot of bad things in recent years. That's why I will not buy a Samsung phone anytime soon (I had both the S20 and S21 models and they both have been bad phones for me). But to say Xiaomi is a better company at software updates, you must be the absolute joker or a blind fanboy.

Just having SD 8 Gen1 means absolutely nothing if Xiaomi is in question. They look nice on paper, but they are often badly gimped. Paying iPhone/Galaxy S price just to potentially get same flawed phone deisgn, no thanks. Also Xiaomi's software updating policy is rubbish.

For those who says its too expensive.
Lets look at it closely.
At first you get all the xiaomi support you can have.
Most european countries Adds can be disabled via settings for Asian countries is also possibe. Compared to Samsung which have no ads but tons of bloatware inside.
For equal price of Samsung buying a Xiaomi you get faster phone with more ram, better camera, much faster charging and charger in the box, better screen, also no fragile slippery curved screen like Samsung does, SD card support on most xiaomi phones, 3,5 mm slot on most xiaomi phones. Xiaomi UI which gets a lot of upgrades over many many years as xiaomi always does where Samsung gives maybe 1 android upgrade on Low end series like M series And low A series and like 2 years of security patches. Only S series gets 2 android upgrades and 3 years of security patches
Most xiaomi phones have way better specs compared to samsung at same or simmilar price.
Redmi K50 series for example cost 400 and specs are equal to 1000 eur S22.
Plus many else which samsung does not and way cheaper repair because xiaomi aint costly on replacable parts compared to samsung where only new curved screen cost from 300 above even on very old phones such as S6 edge plus or S7 edge etc.

Xiaomi upgrading their devices as One Plus does.
Samsung upgrades too but only S models got frequent upgrades.
Rest of the devices are painfully slow getting maybe 1 android upgrade and at miost 2 years of security updates especialy M series and A series of A32 and lower.

Drop silly curved screen to reduce cost and reduce selling price down will be better.
I don't see any benefits, even Apple and Samsung start to drop curved screen.

The prices of Xiaomi, Realme and OnePlus are getting higher and higher. They improve their quality a little bit, but I don't think is a wise decision from them. They were building their names on flagship killers. And now they just became expensive flagships themselves.
I just recently bought a Realme GT Neo 2 phone. I changed my second hand OnePlus 9 Pro, because it was full of bugs after the Android 12 update. I paid for the Realme GT Neo 2 370€ in Europe. I think this should be the normal prices for Xiaomi and Realme phones. And the Realme GT 5G was even lower at 350€.
Asking 800, 900€ for Xiaomi and Realme phones is just wrong. Look at the 900€ OnePlus 9 Pro. Beautiful phone with nice cameras and specs. And first major Android update, is all gone the toilet. Or in other words, Chinese companies have a long way to go until they reach the software support of Samsung or Apple. So, that is why their high prices are unjustified for now.
