Sony Xperia 5 II gets stable Android 12 update

Unable to toggle off Dark Mode, any ideas? I find the UI cumbersome, maybe just me but wish I hadn't upgraded. I hate Dark Mode especially living in a country with bright sunlight. Really hard to read the screen and have to keep using the annoying little button to flick between dark and light but then the photos in the articles lose their true colours.
Will there be a fix soon or can we easily revert to previous version?

Guys relax, its google to blame, I quit sony phones after sony xperia 5 and went on pixels. Now I have the pixel 6, and it has exactly the same problems and look

Why does it now take more actions to put notifications on silent than before? How is that progress?

On top of the ugly UI, the battery is also drained at insane speed. It used to get through 2 days of normal use, but after the update it barely survives a day.
If they don't come with a fix, I might have to consider other option, which is a shame because I've had only Sonys for more than a decade. This is the worst battery life time I've seen in a Sony phone.

Please any comments will help. Att said components of the talking not data are still using 3g so they shut me down. Anyone else experience this?

Just upgraded my Xperia 5 II - I would agree with several people here the GUI changes are a step backwards and I preferred several things in 11...
I also see the shifted status icons - a strange blank space to the right of the battery icon (which I have now figured out is reserved for a little green dot that appears when mic or cam are in use!).
The worst is definitely the big blue blob buttons in the pull-down menu (quick settings) - so at the first pull you only get 4 buttons now! (previously 6) And they've removed both mobile data and WiFi buttons!!?? So you have to tap the new "Internet" button, which just brings up the new schmancy overlay panel, then tap the mobile/WiFi button in a completely different part of the screen, which can jump up the screen as it brings up available WiFi networks and the list expands so you can miss!! Freaking daft and annoying! They reeeally need to change that back!!
So you can no longer quickly tap WiFi or Mobile data on/off OR long press to access Mobile data usage!! (I have had to add a Settings shortcut to my home screen to be able to open Data usage)
The volume button (still) brings up the Media volume by default, and is more blobby looking, and the notification bell button now brings up a selector instead of cycling through (vibrate/silent/normal), not sure which is better...
Couple of hours in and so far not so good! - I can't see what is new and improved (extra dim screen option? Scrolling screen shots? -whoopty-do) - I will have to read around to try and find out...

The new GUI is TERRIBLE - I hate it and want it gone. When you get notifications the GUI is so "fluffy" that I don't see what the notification is about. Before I could glance several updates at a time and cancel those I wanted and decide what ones I wanted I wanted to look at. Now I have look at them one at a time - do you think Im 100 years old? I dont know what you done, I think you added thick boarders to everything so now its gone from having sleek luxurious feeling to having "shag rag" all over the thing. AND before I could tap the power button and then take a screen shot. Now I must press the power button AND the volume button. How the **** did you think that was a good idea? I NEED TO USE TWO HANDS TO TAKE A SCREEN SHOT - this is outrageous. The new GUI is in NO way better then before. I come to dislike my phone now and I might need to go to Apple the next time, even if I hate Apple

The new update is absolutely terrible.i will be cancelling my company contract and all the phones I have been with Sony for 11 years but I hate this update and not happy how thay can just change it massively without a chance for is to change it bk

Hello! I'm first time in here and my english not so good, but: if I updated my Xperia 5II (in 08. Mar), where is the screenshot button. Every day in the work I using measuring instruments (no display) via BT and screenshot is very important for me.
Maybe I'm stupid:)

I personally don't like the new update. It looks extremely cheap and not smooth at all. The black and blue -theme looks just horrible.
Hopefully they will change that back how it used to be, otherwise I'm going to buy a new phone.

I downloaded the android 12 this week now don't seem to be able to get WiFi calling can't seem to find the setting on the phone now anyone got any idea how to turn it back on?

Bob, 11 Mar 2022I've got a 5ii just updated to 12. I dont like it comp... moreDay 2 with the update. I agree visually some menu/design choices not as nice looking as before but phone is still fast and responsive imo (i normally tweak transition, animator scale ... in developer options). I'm not a heavy user but Battery life is still noticeably better for me.

Now I'm scared to put back pin lock so it doesn't do that again
