Kuo: iPhone 14 Pro will have A16, 14 and 14 Max to use A15 Bionic

14 March 2022
The iPhone 14 lineup will be 6.1-inch (14, 14 Pro) and 6.7-inch (14 Max, 14 Pro Max).

I think kuo is wrong this time.

Even if apple decided to use the a15 instead of the a16, it's not going to be called that way.

Rather, I think that apple's a16 will have the same speed and nm process of the a15, but will have the other features of the actual a16. And, apple will call the "true" a16 the a16 pro.

It makes sense due to the M1 and M1 pro naming scene on their mcs.

domraym, 14 Mar 2022I'm guessing the 14 max will be a big hit because of i... moreThe 14 will have a 120hz display and the 13 pro's camera, so that alone justifies the $100 price increase.

If the vanilla 14 has 60hz and same chipset there's literally no reason not to just buy the 13.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2022I believe they will do some minor tweaks like Qualcomm does... moreI would be very happy if they sold the 14 for the price of what they would usually want for the 13. That was the price of iPhone 11 and it sold extremely well. I‘m not too optimistic though after what they did with the SE price (it’s not bad it’s just not as good as the SE 2020 when it came out)

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2022Max screen (6.7 inch) sucks. Shame on Apple for discontinui... moreMini will eventually come back. Relax. You don't need to upgrade to a new phone every single year with the tiniest differences. I estimate in 2 years, it will return. Perhaps in SE form. Apple can create two different sizes for the SE.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2022Good question. People keep repeating how Geekbench is owned... moreGeekbench is not owned by Apple and Geekbench explicitly says they are cross-platform. Antutu explicitly says they are not cross-platform. That’s when fandroids get angry, because Geekbench (where Apple has more points) can be compared between iOS and Android, whereas Antutu (where Android gets more points) can not be compared between iOS and Android.

It's more easy to tsmc to produce it, it's easy for apple to adapt software to only one chipset, delivery is just much more fluid etc.

[deleted post]Because others totally don't do the same. But no one cares about some Oppo or Xiaomi, but everyone spergs out like mad when Apple is in question...

14 Max might be the time we can get an inexpensive Apple phablet but we'll wait and see if it's worth the value against 13 Pro Max.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2022Good question. People keep repeating how Geekbench is owned... moreIt is suspicious only when you notice that compared to other available benchmarks the apple devices score way higher only in geekbench. Even the new M1 chips score out of proportion only in geekbench compared to other standard benchmarks like Cinebench R23. What I have found out that geekbench is a memory test not a raw cpu test. For example, my ryzen 5 now scoring almost double in geekbench multi-core after installing a dual channel dual rank memory but cinebench and 7Zip benchmark scores are staying almost the same. If you really want to compare the raw cpu power of smartphone chips, bring Cinebench in app stores

                      All depends on pricing

And someone who doesn't need more than what base small iPhone offers surely won't go with Pro Max for 400 more... This won't make more people buy bigger more expensive models, it'll just make users stick with old models for longer. Which is why I say if this rumor is true, it'll be a business suicide for iPhone segment.

I think this is a pretty good decision imo , considering that most , if not 99% of users will not know the difference ( the A15 is alr powerful ) .

I'm only hoping for the price of the iPhone 14 & 14 Max to at least be a bit cheaper , considering its using last year's chipset . It's highly unlikely but hey a man can hope.

[deleted post]Good question. People keep repeating how Geekbench is owned by Apple and I actually never questioned it. Until you did. I made some search and found no evidence. Geekbench Wiki doesn't mention Apple being parent company of Primate Labs Inc (makers of Geekbench) and neither I could find any reference to Apple buying Primate Labs Inc anywhere. I wonder who started this myth... Probably just people salty that iPhones score the highest and started spreading this myth how Apple owns it which is why they get best scores.
