Not so long ago, tech websites including this one thought curved screens were the Next Big Thing (TM). Instead they are useless gimmicks that make an expensive phone more fragile.

These capacitors, chips and soldering points are impossible to last more than 10-15 years. It will break at some point. Also the screens. Have you ever seen OLED screen from first samsung galaxy phones? They are all dead. Mine Samsung S3 and S6 with AMOLED screens gave up after ~5 years usage.

glad I cancelled my buying decision at the last moment. This turned out to be a really very fragile phone. Worthless IMO. Not even worth half of the price

I find it hard to believe that phone manufacturers still use glass on the back. Why they haven't found a better material despite knowing how fragile glass is beyond me. This should stop. Use plastic in the back.
First we have to pay for glass back and then pay again when it breaks. Smh.

I can understand why some people don't like to use a case/flip-case/bumper for their phones, but not using one on a phone with such a horrible camera island which makes the phone impossible to use on a table or a flat surface is simply dumb.
Also, what are you guys expecting to happen when you drop a glass sandwich?
They should make phones with rubber/silicone corners from factory, or at least make 2 versions and let people buy their desired product.

I thought you buy the car and rent the battery for so much a month and when the battery needs a replacement go to your car dealer to get a new one.
But I Suspect the W.E.F will try to push the 'you will own nothing and be happy'
idea from their video which was taken off their website.

Anonymous, 14 Mar 2022Gorilla Glass Victus+ is a SCAMOnly a scam to people who aren't aware of what to expect from glass. lol
Some are a bit more resistant than others, but undoubtedly all glass will crack if hit a certain way -- especially along the edge.
Getting a bumper case to minimize the chance of glass contact with a surface is a good idea

Glass is glass. It breaks when it hits concrete. I know, gadget influencers are actively trying to sell the lie that "flat" glass surfaces are a lot more durable than slightly more curved dittos. Science denial is definitely a plague in tech. All to promote some other brand.

Wondering where this society will end up in 10-20 years. Things are made more and more fragile on purpose. We are sold bulls.it about ecological packing etc but it's all about money. Think about cars. Gasoline car used new for 8 years in US, sold to Mexico used another 8 years, then sold to Panama used another 8 years until dead. Lifespan 20+years. How about electric cars? Sure they don't smoke from exhaust, but you still need to produce 3x more cars because lifespan will be ~6-10 years.
