Fairphone makes much less money and they still support their phones for 5 years. Sony has way less models to maintain than Samsung. It doesn’t add up to me paying this amount of money, for that amount of software updates.
I don’t know how much their userbase cares about updates, I heard they buy the phones mainly because of microSD and headphone jack and notification LED, FM radio that kind of stuff from the good old days. But for me, it‘s reason to not recommend their phones, also because it feels like their mobile division has been on life support for half a decade and could die any moment. I‘d still rather own it than a Chinese like Xiaomi or Oppo of course though.

Would be awesome if Sony gave the ability to disable elastic overscroll used in Android 12. I liked the glow effect in Android 11 more.

If they really wanted to be taken seriously, at least the first Xperia 10 should get Android 12 as well, and in the flagship range, every Xperia 1 and 5. Over 1000€ and only 2 years of software support just doesn’t cut it anymore in 2022.

400€ is not budget and 2 years is not really special considering the Galaxy A52 should get 3 years + 1 year of security, and iirc the S20/21 FE will get 4 year doesn’t it? While being just slightly more than 400€. Not to mention the iPhone SE which will get at least 7 years.

Actually, if this is true, it would be a great change for Sony, since up to now, their midranges only received 1 Android update. This means they actually have listened to feedback and are changing their ways.

Apple does kind of have it a lot easier, seeing as iOS only has to cater for Apple products.
I think it's unfair and impossible to compare Android, Harmony, iOS as like for like
