This will make hackintosh impossible.

And no, no liquid nitrogen required. It required the most powerful desktop to beat m1? What strange benchmark do you use? Every decent recent windows notebook can beat the m1 air... Even the old ryzen 4800u could.

in gaming obvious false, if in production software, it again depends "if only" available in macOS / supported by macOS, otherwise it obviously works better in those x86 system

sixtymes, 16 Mar 2022more cores is the only way they can keep up with Intel and amdApple is just trying to create a different class of SoCs that compete with higher-end CPUs from Intel/AMD and GPUs from Nvidia. Of course you need to add more cores to achieve that.

I mean. sure. a Ryzen 5-5600H can beat Apple M... moreDude, do you know that AMD is using X86 architecture processor and M1 is ARM/RISC architecture?? Do you even know what the difference between those two?? 🤦🏻‍♂️ I never compared Intel/AMD processor to Apple SoC coz I knew it's a different architecture and FYI, my qualifications is in Computer system support.

sixtymes, 16 Mar 2022more cores is the only way they can keep up with Intel and amdNot always.
I mean. sure. a Ryzen 5-5600H can beat Apple M1. but TDP wise they are unstoppable.
I'm an android user by the way. I just use macs for work.

sixtymes, 16 Mar 2022more cores is the only way they can keep up with Intel and amdAs if it is Intel and AMD who's catching up, huh??
Apple can afford to have this many cores and only use standard PC cooling system to keep it running under optimal temperatures, while the same number of cores for Intel and AMD would already require liquid nitrogen at the very least to make sure they would be under 100°C, and all while getting 10% lower performance compared to what the Apple Silicon could achieve at a significantly higher efficiency and lower temperature.

Don't believe me? Just remember, it took gaming laptops, or sometimes even the most powerful PC setup to beat the M1 MacBook Air. Why? Because the likes of Dell XPS are simply not good enough to compete with Apple silicon.

sixtymes, 16 Mar 2022more cores is the only way they can keep up with Intel and amdUm, no. More cores is how you scale up parallel computing and 95% of stuff done on Macs is highly parallelized tasks (encoding/decoding/compression). Only reason PC's can't just go all out on that is gaming which still favors fewer faster cores. Which is why workstation CPU's like Threadripper/EPYC and Xeon have tons of cores and generally low clocks. Because all they do is do highly parallelized workloads and zero gaming.

more cores is the only way they can keep up with Intel and amd

Lol... and again, regular users that do nothing, but browse the web and view media with only light editing and maybe some simple programming tasks will read tweets/watch youtube videos of people reviewing it and spend $4000+ on one when the mac mini m1 is enough for what they do. Unlike windows where you want to futureproof by going as powerful as possible for games etc.. Nothing Apple really is capable of needs future proofing. which is why many 6 figure I.T workers still use a macbook pro from 2016.

These chips are used for servers or extreme video editing (3D/8K), macs were never meant to play extreme games, and will never be, I use macOS for work and windows for games.
