Good thing. I hope other LG devices will follow the update. Been rocking the lg v50 since day one and its a tank. Also love the seamless and camera bumpless design on the back. It still does all the task I needed pretty smoothly, and battery still holds up well. Some folks want the latest and greatest, others just wanted to hold on to the phone they love. Too bad their mobile business is out. But who knows, they may revive it in the future with a different management.

People knocking updates for Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco phones, I have a Poco X3 NFC which went from android 10 to 11 and is scheduled for android 12 later this year. That's pretty good for a phone that cost under £200 in the UK. And before all the it's a buggy laggy mess haters start, I've had no problems using this phone every day since I bought it not long after release and it's a joy to use. Out of all the phones released this year the only phone I'd even consider swapping this handset for would be the pro version just for the SD 860 chip but having said that the 732g chip is an excellent chip with plenty of power for everything I do on a phone. Will never overpay for a phone again no matter who its made by.

AnonD-1042521, 16 Mar 2022Meanwhile, I am on Android 11 on my Realme GT Neo 2 (which ... moreI am currently using the Realme GT Neo, aptly named as Realme X7 Max in my country. The Android 12 beta was already out in Dec, 2021 and the stable version will be arriving late this month.
Anyways, I cannot complain about Realme. At just $300 or €266 they offer us the X7 Max, with that flagship grade Mediatek Dimensity 1200 SoC right up there Snapdragon 870. Not to mention sea of 12GB LPDDR4X RAM coupled with ultra fast 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. It is a true performance power-house. And thank LORD we get our beloved 3.5mm audio jack on this phone. The Samsung's AMOLED @ 120 Hz display looks good on this mobile and supports 100% DCI-P3 and has HDR support. The display is not ultra bright outdoors, but 640 nits gets the job done. Realme has not skimped on any sensors here, so auto brightness control is very well managed unlike budget Samsung devices. Dolby Atmos Dual stereo speaker are a joy to use and seriously loud.
Cellular reception quality is stellar, Realme got the basics right. No complaints here. Camera is good for its price, not great. Gets the job done. 4,500 mAh battery gives a decent backup and the 50 watts charging tops it up in an hour. Dimensity 1200 built on efficient 6nm process preserves battery. What I love most about this phone is it compact pocketable size and manageable 179 grams weight. A rarity these days. And the Realme/ ColorOS UI has matured a lot in recent years. My phone can no cheap advertisements showing up in UI, you just need to setup the phone in the right way. Even Samsung budget devices comes with more ads.
We can call them cheap Chinese or whatever, but nobody can deny the bang for buck they offer. Frankly Samsung would have sold the same phone at twice the price with its brand image.

I may be wrong, but I still think LG will come back. With a new strategy, they could have a chance!

YUKI93, 16 Mar 2022G8X and V50 is projected to receive Andorid 12 OS update, b... moreWhile I applaud LG Mobile is still pumping out Android updates on their flagship phones, some aspects are left behind like analogue audio quality through headphone jack. The trademark of all QuadDAC laden LG phones.
I own a pair of LG G8X's and had been unhappy lately with the latest Android 11 update. Analogue audio quality through headphone jack dipped somewhat when compared to Android 10. I had two G8X's and thus had liberty to perform many A/B listening sessions/ testing on both phones using some high end headphones. One was on Android 10 while the other running Android 11. With Android 11, some high frequency details in the audio spectrum was notably missing. The Meridian Audio tuned sound signature, a trait of G8X also seem somewhat tamed.
Found many users are also complaining of Android 11 update with core functionality issues like taking calls. This acted as a secondary motivator for downgrade. Now both my G8X's are on Android 10 as the improvement to A11 in UI is very minor.
LG was in full force in 2020, the year of Android 10 and I want to keep my gorgeously sounding G8X babes in that way only.

And they took advantage of it, they aren't improved at all, they just copy whatever rubbish Apple adopts, e.g. charger dropping, and they don't care about user satisfaction at all, since they produce phones with poor batteries that can't last a day even if you use your device lightly.

Support got way better after they left the bizz 😂😂 If they always had support like that who would have known what happened. They were one of the last companies making flagships without cutting corners and therefore had a small but very strong fanbase

LG might still be selling lots of phones if they released updates while they were alive. I bought a different phone because of a major bug and months of no software updates.

I don't mind older androids, they are more stable. In fact, I retrain from updates as much as possible and my phones live significantly longer than others.
But, if LG returns to the phone game, I might for the first time try one. I love LG as much as I hated their phones.

Meanwhile, I am on Android 11 on my Realme GT Neo 2 (which by the way, is a model released at the end of 2021). Lol.
But, of course, I knew what I was doing when buying Realme or Xiaomi mid-range phones. For what I bought it (watching movies and gaming), is not necessarily to have latest Android on it. As long as the phone performs well. And it does. Plus, the 65W charging speed is amazing. My past Samsung phones and iPhones only dream to reach this level. Lol.
But, for software geeks, who want all the time the latest and greatest software updates, is not good to buy mid-range phones from Chinese manufacturers. And Samsung or Apple phones are still the best at this.
Too bad LG exit the smartphone industry. It was a nice company to have around.
