In the UK if your have a TV or watch TV on a device you have to have a TV license this applies per household.
My father is a landlord his wife leaves in another part of the country cos it's closer to her work place at a UNI Hospital they see each other every 2 weeks,
two households two TV license's simple.

We use Netflix in our motor home TV. Will that show up as "sharing"?

Jimbob of Jonestown, 18 Mar 2022What ruined it, honestly, was the fragmentation. There'... moreCable is useless in a digital world. But enjoy your TV that never works smoothly, is extremely expensive and without anything new.

Olympus Oms, 17 Mar 2022Cable is always dead, when there's something big in TV... moreWhat ruined it, honestly, was the fragmentation. There's no respect that someone's interests may not be entirely contained in one pack.

Ie, with the provider we had cable with, it took no fewer than six of their "theme packs" to get even one channel per that we liked.

I like history, I like nature. I do not like TLC, Oprah, etc. Know how many packs it took to get three channels of interest? All 720p? 3.

It's some $15 a pack/month, and that's before you even consider the price of service - $55ish CAD.

TV was our most expensive service, running some $135. Then internet was an additional $95, phone was $25.

                    That ignores cellulai.

It's complete bs how telecoms sodo( ) customers. Then they have the audacity to complain about people dropping it!

Then you get the streaming services doing the same. I do dislike the idea of monopoly... but if a player can do it at decent value, I can accept it. If NF kept up, I'd be fine.

It's like Steam, 'cept steam still is. They simply did it well and did it in a way that was cost-effective. If that's the source of monopoly, I don't mind *too much.

It's all crap, anyway. Let them drown in their greed, I'm past bothering to morally rationalize stuff like piracy. They've never extended that concession themselves.

Frankly, it's a correction. Piracy is shown to vary by consumer treatment and content access. It does go down when those improve.

Let the market speak - and right now, it's hoisting the jolly roger.

I think they will lose a good amount of subscribers if they do so.
Me and my bois share the password. And because of this sharing, recently we started using Netflix, otherwise, we wouldn't have. And in the last month, I hardly used it. So the amount I spent is decent for my usage. Let's see what happens.

Stars, people need to consider how this works. It's diffusion - they're not really paid all that excessively.

Sure, it looks bad - A star makes $10M. But, that is across *millions* of people seeing it.

It's the same principle if I asked people to pay for my degree. Sure, freeloader-ish, but humour me. If I walk up to you and ask for $48k, you're gonna laugh.

But, what if I get 4800 people to give me $10? 10000 to give me a fiver?

It's lots of small sums, not one huge sum. Since you *can spread things out over thousands through millions of people for hockey, movies, etc - base royalties alone account for that.

Sounds bad, but I really don't think it actually is. That's the character of mass media - one IT guy simply can't service 50M customers off one record.

That's just the crumblage of the proverbial cookie.

a Single plan availability would be the remedy, not charging for sharing passwords

Dont use it myself because on youtube whe the ad starts playing I close the stream and then start it again and keep doing it until they stop pudhing the ads. Youtube syarts eith one ad of 6 secs then they put 2 ads in a row first one 6 secs and 2nd one 10 secs. They are now trying to push 3 ads in a row and on the last ad if you dont press stop ads they keep pushing ads. Not having any of that and just shut youtube app. They are trying very hard to annoy people.

Youtube are shutting vanced down because they are want the ad revenue.
