Samsung's smallest flagship is now even smaller.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2022Those very cheap trasparent cases turn yellow as months go ... more$3 to $5? The screen protectors cost more than that. I guess that is why I've never had an issue. I've never paid that little for a case for my cell phones. I buy a case, and it lasts me for as long as I own the phone. Which used to be two years. But with the S22 I switched to one-year upgrade cycles. When I traded in my S21.

swap to s22 ultra from poor zflip3 , i'm glad i change it or else i have to charge my zflip 3 two to three times a day. s22 ultra can last whole day with less than 20 % of battery drain .

Kelly , 22 Mar 2022Am thinking of going for the s20 ultra . Is it a good idea .No, it's better to go for the S21 Ultra, which beats the S20 Ultra:

S20 FE with large display does about ten hours SOT playing games or reading books (and I read a lot). Even in the gsmArena battery test the SOT during web browsing or playing video is much longer.

Kuba, 22 Mar 2022My 2 year old S20 5G had 5:30h screen on time. NEW S22 has ... moreI got 4h of SOT from 100% to 27% while using the phone for basic things indoors at 120Hz. If this info matters, that was from the initial day that I also spent setting the phone up (installing all the apps and such, which probably put some moderate strain on the CPU as it did get warm during that period).

However, it is still funny how OEMs removed e.g. the headphone jack "to free up more space for other components", only to later on reduce the same components.

In any case, those who have an S21 or even plan on buying the now much cheaper S21 won't miss out on much.

But if you desperately (like me) want a flagship as compact as it can get without it having a notch and/or running iOS, with symmetrical bezels all-around and a rectangular glass sandwich feel (like on the old Xperia and now iPhones), the S22 is the way to go as long as you have e.g. wireless chargers or power banks around you for quick top-ups.

SpongeBob, 22 Mar 2022In what world is the S21 tiny? Also, glass and metal are no... moreIn world where a 6.5-6.7 inch screen is "mid-sized" haha!
I guess 2022 iphone SE is probably an atom in comparison xD

Personally I'd go for S21FE. S22 series devices are cripled too much, apart from the bulk king Ultra, of course. They shouldn't be called flagships.

blue, 21 Mar 2022S21 had 93 hours, and S22 has only 300 mAh less battery cap... moreMy 2 year old S20 5G had 5:30h screen on time. NEW S22 has 4:50h screen on time. Both of these numbers: dark mode, no 5G, 60Hz, Power saving mode on.

Well....lots of different opinions on glass back vs plastic back. I'd love to not use a case and never used to, but these new phones are so slippery I can see where it would be easy to drop one when using one handed. Seems to me that plastic would be less slippery than glass, at least that's the way it was, and I'd rather live with a few scratches on the back vs the shattered glass look on the back. Although maybe if the back were shattered, it wouldn't be so slippery! Now that I feel the need to protect these slippery phones, I still put the slimmest case on possible to minimize the bulk, usually using a very slim leather wrap.

In what world is the S21 tiny? Also, glass and metal are not necessarily better than good plastic.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2022Plastic back can easily be scratched by stuff people put in... moreSo can glass back. My iPhone's glass back is all scratches, so is the front. But worst of all are not tiny scratches, but larger wear "maps" made when carrying the phone in pockets, in bags, etc.
The plastic back can be scratched too, but at least it does not break when phone falls.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2022S21 is heavier than S20, despite plastic back. It's also longer, wider, thicker and has larger screen, yet the difference in weight is only 2 grams! My comment obviously meant that, all things being equal (i.e. two phones have similar dimensions.screen sizes), a plastic backed phone will be lighter than a glass backed one. Glass is heavier than plastic, there's no arguing that!
