Today, a company can distiguish itself from faceless masses by NOT making adroid phones.

Nokia still sells millions of phones but needs to throw some money at getting everyones favourite app on the platforn..

      Nokia missed 3 chances,

1)WEBOS was crying out for decent hardware Nokia was crying out for decent software at same time why not join forces..

2)Meego was a powerfull system and then they dropped that.

3)Nokia could have done Android as well as Windows and if windows failed they could drop it.

If Nokia is going down, it is due to the financial crisis which has badly affected the whole world. And sooner or later, all mobile companies will suffer to some extent. Apple too has lost shares the past year. Htc has suffered from loss which its ceo has mentioned in his latest interviews. Financial crisis are not going to get tackled to its end in just few years. Infact, it is going to get possibly worst in future. Sony, a renowned company is also sinking down in financial crisis because economy of Japan is bad overall these days. It is the boom for samsung mobiles subsidary business of samsung, these days. But how long will it last? This worldwide financial crisis will also take samsung down in future, in my observation. Look at all those car manufacturing companies in America who have gone totally bankrupt and now out of business. Dollar is not what it used to be before 2008. I wonder when the whole world's economy is going to collapse, I just wonder.

I agree that Windows 6.5 user interface was bad, things like turning off Bluetooth took 3 or 4 steps.

However Symbian was just as bad in many tasks. While android and iPhone keyboards switched landscape to portrait seamlessly Symbian required 2 button presses and then you had to wait 3 seconds for a modal dialog telling you that you had switched from portrait to landscape.

The 3 seconds long messages telling you what you had just done stopping you from getting on with your task were really annoying and were all throughout the os.

Years later they improved slightly and managed auto rotating screens better but by that time android and ios had advanced further.

If they put their 808 camera in a Windows phone I am sure they would have a big seller, but until they have a flagship which is much better than the competition or a super low price smart phone that is nearly as good as an iPhone they will not gain much market share.

Nokia should make Android phones. Bcoz now Android with jeally bean is now smoother, faster and with tons of features. I am not telling to ditch windows. It is also the smoothest and reliable OS to me. But WP8 lack features, apps. It will take time to mature. So make Android+ Windows phones. Let customer choose their favourite OS. Don't force customer to choose Lumia only for WP. I am sure if they do it, they will be top again. I want Pureview camera+rich recording+superior build quality+ world best 2 maps (gmaps+here)+ Puremotion CBD Display+ Swipe UI in a phone.

to ohhoo: windows in their 4inch phones cannot be optimized its platform. even samsung in their big names find ithard to sell, i only suggest if it is in tablet phones form andbe usedfor serious task it would be great.then there is aclear barrier between android and windows.

many people use windows for years for laptop and pc and nobody complain abt it. the problem is windows for a phone is not a user friendly. w8 now with their lots of free application should be able to catch up with android.

Someone might said that if Nokia chooses Android, they'd be doom long time ago. I disagree with that. Now we see a lot of companies even LG are doing better than Nokia and that with Android and fewer resources. Users choose Android and Nokia didn't listen to it, that's why Nokia lost thousands of their comrades live every quarters. What a shame Nokia.

                                Dear Nokia,
                                I've been your user since 6210, 9100i, E72, and N8.
You've been good, Symbian has been good. I love your product & Symbian.
But why don't you develop a new strategy for Symbian instead of ditch it out?
And why don't you make a smaller diversity of your phone models, that will surely lower your cost of designing & producing?
It will easier & cheaper for you to produce a smaller lineup of phone, as well as it's accessories, especially if the phone has similar i/o. It'll attract another accessories maker for your phone as well, if you have only several models (sounds like apple iPhone, eh?)
I love my N8. But if one day I need to replace it, I haven't got another crush on your other products. And still not knowing where do you plan to go with your product. Still wait & see... Have tried your 920 & 820, but still has no 'click' to them...
Revive Symbian!!! And keep fighting back with whatever good thing you have!!!

                                Regards,

                                al_163

symbian was good bro, i used before. but the thing is symbian is not popular to some people. you can imagine how much nokia has to bear a lost on prouct that is not saleable. each product that nokia has to launch per type abt 400000 units n above. good product is not a matter, what matter is the sales record. honestly i miss symbian too. but thing has to be realistic
