Despite losing a little less each quarter since Kazuo Hirai took over as CEO, Sony still appears to be looking for ways to cut the fat. Its latest move? Sell the house. Taking a page from Nokia's book, Sony has announced that it has agreed to sell its New York headquarters building to a consortium led by The Chetrit Group - LOL so much for Android :D

16- 20 months ago, I said Nokia will have 5 years left before bankruptcy sets in.
3 years left to pull their fingers out and move to the dark side and partner up with Google or Intel at very least start looking at some Linux Distro, n900 series running unbuntu?

Nokia is NOT struggling to establish itself, everybody knows who Nokia is. Think about it for a minute: Take Nokia's aesthetics and build quality and know-how and support. Add a dominant OS-ecosystem. Finally add a reasonable price. It's a win-win scenario here, my friend. Even the most dedicated fan boys of other manufacturers would switch to such a phone. Not to mention the effect on others e.g. Samsung or Sony. Nokia is a major player and their involvement would surely change the balance.

samsung and htc makes tons of android phones but only 1 or 2 wp8 phones. want to know why? because there are no profits to be made there. they only release 1 or 2 wp8 phones just to test out the market. that's it. wp8 is a flop, yet again. nokia is as good as dead

[deleted post]Nokia's rise will probably help Apple, as most of the market share taken will be from Android. Remember, Lumia 620 and other low end phones may prove to be tempting to the low end smartphone user over Android.
With Samsung the only one making profits in Android, OEMs will be tempted to go to WP8 which is already happening. LG and Asus have announced interest in WP8. Ironically, Android's strongest player may be the very reason for Android's downfall in smartphones.

You don’t succeed in business when you do exactly the same thing as everyone else. There’s really only one manufacturer using Android that has actually seen continued success with it and that’s Samsung. HTC, LG, Sony, etc, are struggling a bit while Samsung and Apple are at the top. Putting Android on a phone doesn’t automatically make you successful. It would be like opening a pizza place on a street next to 5 other pizza places and one store that sells apples. Sure, pizza is great and some say it tastes better than fruit, but if you want to stand out in the food business, you have to do something new. That’s why Nokia has gone all in with Windows Phone. It’s fresh, it’s different, and it’s tasty.

Samsung is No.1 today not because it defeated Nokia, because Nokia you can say got injured. It was not as if Samsung took that spot from Nokia, it was given to them, cause there was no choice.

Nokia is taking the right steps, even though it is sometimes painful. WP8 and Lumia are registering great growth, but Nokia still needs to be leaner. The financial support and compensation program shows that it is truly Nokia that is designed for humans, and not Samsung lol.
Hopefully Nokia will regain its former strength. Signs are positive so far.

For everyone saying Nokia should move to Android, you should take a look at the quarterly earnings from Android smartphone producing companies. While Android is popular, only Samsung has been able to make consistent growing profit. HTC, LG, Motorola (before google), and Sony all reported either losses or greatly declining profits. It's pretty bad when HTC (reporting about 35% decrease in revenue) has the best earnings report of the 4.
Nokia (despite "poor" sales) outsold their estimates by quite a bit, and it is reflected in their stocks soaring over 30% recently.
