sq2013, 28 Mar 2022Lol, what a ridiculous question to ask. Yes, it's a gr... moreGraphical Processing Unit - yes, nice one. And why do you think *graphics* only exist in game? You're saying it's a gaming GPU, does that mean it can't be used to run anything else? Don't fall in marketing gimmick.

Animation software eg - Blender can heavily benefited from high VRAM.

If you're thinking of getting this just get the new 2022 Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 when the top spec models finally get released. It's going to be the best laptop of 2022 mark my words.

GPU wattage has been reduced from 70w to 60w because of new Intel chips. I don't want to buy a laptop that has nuclear reactor processing but always need to be close to the power outlet.

A chip usually soldered to the motherboard on most modern smart devices that is responsible for running games and playing video. It can be integrated or dedicated. A separate processor on the motherboard or integrated into the CPU. FYI, I've been repairing smartphones, laptops and PCs for ten years plus and have also built PC's from scratch but thanks for the question lol. Any other clever questions, I'd prefer if you kept them to yourself bright spark.

I have the RTX 3070 but not everyone can afford a graphics card with today prices so they try to find the cheapest option which will still allow them to play videogames. Only Ryzen chips are capable of fulfilling this.

Anonymous, 25 Mar 2022Boring, the new AMD chips are where all the hype is at the momentlol what hell no amd cant do dlss like the nvidia gpus can, so u can push even higher specs, unless u are talking about on the cpu side vs intel then i guess, altho Intel isn't even worse and in fact is usually more before as well, it's just that it's more expensive *shrug*

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2022No one mentioned gaming until you. These laptops aren'... moreYou made me curious mentioning thermals.
Gaming makes demand for high specs which - of course - give you high performance with a lot of heat and high consumption.
If creative work (like video editing/rendering, etc.) also needs that kind of high spec but the laptop itself has bad cooling then it worths nothing. If laptop has that high spec HW and it does not need it for creative work then why the high specs (which also means high price)?

                          I really dont get it.

I am also sceptical about prices. XPS 15 for 1300USD? At the moment the current gen XPS 13 starts from 1600USD (with 400 discount). If I jump up to XPS 15 the lowest price I see on Dell website is 3200USD (discount applied - 3,5K IPS, i7-11800H,RTX 3050Ti 4GB, 16GB DDR4, 512GB SSD) and I think the base Macbook Pro 16 would eat that thing alive for 2500 USD with excellent thermals and double the battery time while it is very good at creative work.

Still companies are offering obsolete specification at very high price, like i3 processor, 4-8gb Ram, 256 SSD, non touch undetectable screen, With HD cam. Please stop befooling customers anymore...
Now we need a more produçtive machine like i5-i7 processor, 32 GB Ram, 1TB ssd, detechable 4k touch screen with pen support... Instead of back panel give ink screen for reading and notemaking purpose...4k fronfacing cam.
Now these features are no more a premium thing that should be offered to millionaire or billionaires only who can afford premium price laptops, but its a need now for even a person getting below ₹15000/ Month... They also do online job, attend meeting, online business, online class, vedio editing is need of everone now so price too should be very affordable.

I think all the marketing team, strategy -planning team are from reservation cota as the are unable to understand the pulse of market.

You can't play a single game on it if it doesn't have a Ryzen chip. Only those have large video memory capacity. My friend has a very cheap laptop with old Ryzen 3300U but he plays Starcraft 2 all the time (full HD, lowest details). With any kind of Intel based laptop he couldn't.

AMD never got interested in solving this problem and if China does something to Taiwan, you can kiss good bye to those chips.

These XPS are fine only in pictures. I have a MacBook Pro 2020 with Intel and Windows OS and it is better built than Dell because MacBooks are more rigid and have better ventilation, thermic dissipation, better speakers and keyboard, better screen color accuracy.

The issues with rattling noises coming from XPS fans, cracking noises from speakers and flexibility of the case, bending when you type are unbearable.

The the bugs with XPS wi-fi drivers, disconnecting from network all the time and never fixed, despite installing weekly fixes on Windows OS which need more fixes to fix the old fixes are boggling any optimistic minds.

Have the XPS 17 11gen. Great laptop, use it more than my mac now. GPU is great for video productions. However, not enough new stuff to by the 12th gen.
