Also have fun waiting for the "optimisation" if you have an intel or amd cpu you can right now play as much as you want, you also said "when games are optimzed well... the M1 can easily run it" but it doesn't actually do it, that's just a theory not reality, I have never seen that cpu run games better than an i9 12900k

For 5.3 GHz all core you kinda have to have some luck. 5.5 GHz is something I haven't seen being done anywhere with any water cooling. DICE and LN yes, but on water, I very much doubt it. Maybe with best EK water block setup and massive radiators. And even there I doubt it.

Building a computer with a 5600G will get you pretty playable gaming at 1080p for most games, albeit at low settings for AAA games. If you're looking for a low end system you're not even considering buying a $750 CPU.

Huaweip, 29 Mar 2022should I feel bad for buying the 9900k?Not at all, the 9900K is still a very competent CPU. However the performance leap from 11th gen to 12th gen this year has been massive. Also think about upgradability. Buying 12th gen gives you access to DDR5, whereas if you go 9th gen you're only getting the soon obselete DDR4. However I would not feel bad going 9th gen, especially 9900K, you could do much worse for your money.

Gotta give credit to Intel for pushing clocks this high. 5,5 GHz on 2 cores is quite an achievement. As AMD Ryzen user, I miss the actual overclocking capabilities I had on Core i7 CPU's in the past. From pushing all cores to max boost clock (imagine Ryzen 5800X running all core at 4,85 GHz) to more flexible voltage controls, more flexible multiplier controls and overclocking that actually does anything and not ridiculous clock stretching on Ryzen where you think how awesome clocks you've made, but they are just nice numbers that don't actually do anything. My 5800X displayed 5GHz in monitoring software, yet all my scores were actually lower. Ridiculous. 5800X is really good CPU, but it's basically as good as it can get out of the box, especially if you're a gamer. Intel still has some room left, especially at all core. In the past that helped, but their IPC was rather poor and compensated entirely with clocks. They kept clocks very high and addressed IPC too in Alder Lake. This is certainly an ultimate gaming CPU.

Anonymous, 29 Mar 2022can you game on M1?When x86 games are optimized to work well on ARM, the M1 can easily do it with no major flaws.

Can your Intel CPU on a laptop achieve a thousand points of score in GeekBench without needing to plug it into power source and having the fans spin very loudly?
