It's a part of Mediatek's "Open Resource Architecture" program.
Mediatek offers a low level access (mean close hardware) to AI and ISP to some OEM.
It's software...something like a permission to write their own AI drivers.
1300 is strange...an update of 1200 with slightly modified AI that allows Hyperengine 5.0 and Variable Rate Shading (and maybe a slightly better Ray Tracing with better Denoising and supersampling)

Those are the specific OEM's way to call their optimized version of 1200 under the MediaTek's "open architecture program" that lets them choose which part of the SoC get greater look. 1200 AI (OnePlus) got its AI enhanced, 1200 Ultra in the Xiaomi 11T stands for ultra-power saving (this one is really confusing and might ended up being misleading), and the 1200 vivo used on the vivo X series got its ISP enhanced among other things. Those gibberish aside, it should be collectively known as the 1200, but y

The Dimensity 1200 in the Vivo X... moreWhich goes full circle on the point of OEM optimization, a lot of things can go better (like the X70 or even 11T with its Dimensity 1200) or worse (like Dimensity 1100 on a Poco X3 GT). Not to mention the build necessary to sustain the performance. The analogy is like the same computer processor is used on a two completely different builds, one way better than the other.
Again, Dimensity 1000 series has the potential to match or outperform 2019 Qualcomm flagship SoCs like 865 or 870, as well as modern premium mid ranger like 778/780, but like the previous comments I made, it is totally up to OEMs to harness the power (or lack thereof)

[deleted post]Snapdragon 870 is much more better than dimensity 1200.. In terms of Compatibility, optimization, heat management.. CPU, GPU.. it's almost better in every single corner of the competition.. Even snapdragon 865 is better than dimensity 1200.

The 1300 is even more confusing as the upper midrange/lower flagship cpu market is already filled up with the 8100.

I believe that the 1300 will just be an improved version of the 1200, just enough improvement to surpass the areas where the 870 was winning against the 1200

The Dimensity 1200 in the Vivo X70 performs as good as any phone with a Snapdragon 865. And even the Vivo iqoo z1 with a Dimensity 1000+ performs way better than any 778G phone. But the iqoo z1 has terrible battery issues, the vivo x70 does not.
