fun fact: NSA asked Google to impose a monopoly on its spying capabilities

Google is acting like an authoritarian and foolishly ignorant digital nanny here. Call recording is extremely important for a variety of reasons, and the "this call is now being recorded" notification provided by the Google Phone app is not that good when it comes to situations like aggrieved parties in divorce or domestic abuse cases recording evidence that might exonerate them if they are wrongly judged as being guilty.

In another instance, someone recording a call so that if some sort of instructions are being provided in said call, then the recording can be replayed later during times of need. I hope people realise the pitfalls of this decision and force Google to retract it en masse.
