Samsung and apple spend millions and... moreSpeaking about "hifi" and Sony. I own their top-of-the-line amplifier. This thing absolutely sucks, has software bugs for days. The very common "unwanted Home-screen issue" has happened three times over the last 2 weeks and they never fixed that, or many other issues... This amp also lacks a real room EQ feature, even though it was originally a close to 1000 dollar product and those tend to have the great Audyssey XT32.
Yes, back in the day Sony did have good products that were better than rivals (TV's especially), but that was back then. Now they overprice whatever they release, generally are painstakingly slow to include basic features (like PS5's VRR-support)... You aren't getting your money's worth.

Do you rather want them to make same or not classy Designs??
Microsoft Surface Pro devices sticked their successful design for almost 7 years. Reason for that is they want to change only if they can bring another successful design and not copy others or bring out non sensible designs.
Also some poeple mentioning about 6.5" 21:9 tall would about same as 6.6/6.7" 19:9 smartphones existing in market. If you have no problem with those 6.7" devices then you would not have any problems with this. On top of that Xperia devices are actually comfortable to hold it unlike 18:9 devices.
Regarding not able to reach notification bar comment, what android version are you using? Because Android already made it default to drop down notification bar swiping anywhere on the screen. This is because of bigger phones since last 4-5 years.

I used to own the original xperia 1... i must admit design is getting boring, probably this will have same design and too tall aspect ratio for the fourth straight year, and while they usually put respectable camera hardware, image processing always suck

Sony commands premium price. Guess who are the competitors at premium segment. Apple and Samsung, companies that can ship products days within announcement, or at least have exact shipping date.

I hope it comes with the Gen 1 plus with TMSC, and they could open more markets to distribute and see if they stop that bad practice of announcing in May and taking out the phone almost at Christmas
