Motorola Edge 30 goes official with 6.5" 144Hz OLED display, SD778G+

27 April 2022
And a dual 50MP camera on the back, similar to the one in the Edge 30 Pro. The phone costs about half as much as the Pro, however.

I really enjoy it, you people should also sal it in like Cameroon.

Might as well pair a Snapdragon 400 with a 240hz display at this rate.

Sounds like a decent deal but has its own shortcomings. Lesser battery (4500 mAh seems the standard these days), USB-C limited to 2.0 preventing wired "Ready For" and Motorola's abysmal software support. Not to mention, glass protection hasn't been specified which means it could very well be the weaker Gorilla Glass 3 found on "budget" phones such as the Pixel 4a.

Had they included the headphone jack, would have sweetened the deal a bit. Still good to see Motorola in the mix of things and churning out good value devices overall though.

I was told upcoming 7g1 is above 888.
                  Stronger while less heat.

Spanky, 27 Apr 2022The 778 (plus or not) is an obsolete chip, especially since... moreSD 778 is obsolete? What are you smoking??? It is one of the best midrange SoCs around, with 4 A78 performance cores and 4 A55 efficiency cores. It also has adequate GPU power for a midrange phone. It is built on TSMC 6nm node, and very efficient while providing adequate performance for the masses. Remember this - Not everyone needs flagships SoCs (Snapdragon 8 series SoCs). SD 778 is a great SoC for 2022 mid-range phones when compared to SD 695/Dimensity 810/900/920 which are used by OEMs in most of the mid-range phones.

Phones to be THICKER with BIGGER batteries...but NO...Motorola makes the phone THINNER with a SMALLER BATTERY??????????????
                              What a sick joke!
Look at the size of that carbuncle on the back...hideous!

The 778 (plus or not) is an obsolete chip, especially since the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is just around the corner.

But the rest of the specs are pretty nice, along with the ultra-thin profile.

I dunno what commenters are talking about. Moto have the best phones overall, except their prices are atrocious. And I mean absolutely atrocious. Worse than the rest of the outrageously overpriced phone market.

Sony is the only other phone manufacturer making anything worth a $_##$ in the last several years as well. They, too, however, suffer from "profit margin fever".

The battery life and lightweight Android skin are good though. If you don't want to pay a premium and don't care about camera performance, Motorola seems like a good choice.

Isn't Motorola owned by Lenovo now?

GregLu, 27 Apr 2022'poor software quality overall' for OneUI ? Sorry... moreWhen did Motorola put iOS clone in their phones? Where did I mention that I prefer Xiaomi's/BBK's software than Samsung's One UI? I am comparing Motorola's clean software against Samsung's One UI which is still loaded with unnecessary bloatware. When it comes to software quality, Google/Motorola's software quality stand out in a positive way, than any other OEMs (including Samsung).
