You can install Linux on this phone or graphene os on this phone you do not need another phone you just need to be tech savvy however most people are not that.

    This is a phone that is compatible to install a Linux os on or install graphene os on to it. So you do not need to get another phone. However would someone who is not tech savvy do that I don't think so.

      Personally I'll be replacing my Pixel 3A sometime in August. I think 1 month is long enough!

      Definitely consider this aspect when buying a new device. Some of the cheaper brands have woefully short support periods and reviews often neglect to mention this. Your best bet is to buy a device close to its release date. It will be a Pixel 6A for me which will get 5 years of support. This is an improvement over the three years older Pixels get.

            Even my 66 years old mom sometimes runs a game when she had to wait several minutes at post office or waiting for doctor.
            And she dont play anywere else.

                Some apps like facebook and maybe youtube works without updates for several months but one day you will come to a message please update your app.
                And this will likey happens.
                If you dont play games its your problem.
                But traveling by train long distances or bus require somemething to spend your free time.
                Games are great for that.

                    I don't know where you heard that apps need to be updated after an OS upgrade, as that is not the case for both Android and iOS. They only have minimum OS version requirement.

                              I got a Pixel 3a late 2020. Couldn't be more happy with it. Great speakers, screen, haptics, camera, software experience. Just wished it was a bit faster. Am looking to upgrade to a compact like Sony 10 III, Zenfone 8, iPhone 13 or S21.

Once Google has the in-house cpu will start increase the number of updates. Apple didn't have 6 years of updates from the start either. You will see how Google will offer even more updates from this year as well.

                                    I can honestly guarantee you a game like Clash of Lord 2 i play since 2014 wont run on a 6-8 years old device no matter what because the phone internals get sweaty over 6 years of use and overheats on even basic tasks.

                                    With apple is the same.
                                    if you dont upgrade your OS some of your appps will refuse to work later much more of them will cease to work.
                                    If you upgrade your OS you also have to upgrade your apps because they will refuse to work.
                                    And if you upgrade your apps and OS over a 4-6 years period your internals gets old very old and will not keep up with new updatred apps which will be made for fresh new phones with latest hardware.

                                    Just looka t the game World of tanks for example or League of Legends. How the game were lookign 12 years ago and how the game looks now.
                                    Please tell me which 12 years old computer will run said game now without any lagg or other problems.
                                    Thats not possible.

                                      Still its pretty unbelievable that a phone with 4GB of ram and SD845 handled Android 12.
                                      But we can probably forget on multitasking like with Apple phones.
