Aquos R7’s 47MP main cam can now capture up to 1.8 times more light compared to last year’s Aquos R6.

Finally one camera sensor for all photography. I am tired of those ugly multiple camera sensors on the back of a smartphones.

          The last generation was already great. It only required OIS and better HDR. Hopefully Sharp has improved their HDR.
          The 47MP in a 1inch sensor should help with zoom without too much loss.in detail, during daytime. And Quad Bayer on that should be great too.

            19mm fov eq lens is horrible.. Too wide
            this good for UW camera replacement for sure, but not main camera. Main cam should be ~28mm or even more.
            Like ZTE Z40Pro Nubia - despite smaller sensor, those 35mm f1.6 lens amazes.

I might buy a new Japanese product too this year(I would try a Fujitsu, well if they will actually release a flagship this year).

                    how come sharp is still in business. all seemed to having an end to phone , but now another sharp r7 aaaand so late foe a release in juullyyyy !!!! . what happened sharp just woke up ????!!!

                      Up from 20MP to 47MP? This should be exciting. However, I still think 19mm is too wide for the main camera. 30mm or 35mm is more realistic. That said, I'm still craving Sharp's flagship Aquos R phone. Hopefully, I can find a way to own one.

                                  R7 is 1.8 times more *light-sensitive* because of its larger pixel size (when binned to 11.75MP), but it doesn't "collect" any more light compared to R6. Given R7's extremely wide field of view, I would say the reduction in effective resolution (down from 20.7MP) will definitely hurt a lot, unless Sharp has figured out a way to effectively create a good looking 47MP image through stacking and processing.

                                  Thank god that Sharp is using a Dual Pixel sensor this time around though. Last year's contrast-based-AF-only sensor was abysmal at handling moving objects, and I'm glad that they are actually listening to customers' voices.

                                      It is a surprise seeing a brand new camera sensor for the R7, I did not expect such a thing to be honest. I was hoping for a telephoto camera though.
