The Flip, 11 May 2022It always ends up Android vs. iPhone or Samsung vs. Apple. ... moreI've often wondered why the people "here" often can't be satisfied with their choices and have to prove its superiority over other phones or brands. I've used Samsung phones and watches since the Galaxy S2 and Gear S2 Classic. For years I carried 2 Galaxy Note phones daily because I enjoyed the S Pen so much. I denigrated iPhone and said I'd never use one. In 2020 however I asked guys on another forum why they used BOTH iPhones and Android phones. They gave me their reasons and I bought the iPhone 11 Pro Max (instead of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra). Since then I've carried both brands of phones and use only an Apple Watch. Samsung is the Android brand I like but that doesn't mean others don't make good phones. Some like living in the walled garden of iOS while others like roaming the Android plains. . To each his own.

Uhh isn't this worse than the deal they had for the Mothers Day promo for the S22U? The trade in values for almost everything have been like halved and no free memory upgrade...

I guess if you're buying it without trade in then this is better as you get the $250 off reguardless.

Literally like 5 days ago I got $600 Trade in value for the note 10+ and now its down to $290 and no free memory upgrade...

Pretty sure Best buy is running a better promo right now. The S22U at Best buy is discounted to $899 unlocked but you have to activate it upon purchase but it can be for any carrier. You don't even have to really activate it on the spot. Just buy it and tell them you're giving it as a gift to someone.

Anonymous, 11 May 2022OnePlus is one of the most popular Android phone brands, no... moreOnePlus is just a sad meme of itself at the moment and it has been for a while actually. You're right though that you can't compare Android and iOS directly. iOS actually has all the features under "iOS". What you all brag so much on Android are ALL the features in existence from ALL the vendors that you all collectively call "Android" features, even if some are exclusive to Samsung devices only or to Xiaomi devices only or Oppo devices only. It's all "Android" to you. Well, things don't work that way.

AnonD-1049375, 11 May 2022And you Apple fanboys are clinching to software support all... moreYeah, we are, because it's superb. What's wrong with that? What, am I going to praise some arbitrary rules that Realme uses? They literally state "you may or may not get any update" for their cheap phones. What kind of software support is that lol?

Software support on iOS and Android can't be directly compared, but iOS fans keep bragging about it, nonetheless. They be like "My phone gets twenty unwanted updates everyday. Therefore, it is better and appel is best" lol

Also, like a guy was presenting in an earlier comment, software support in Android phones doesn't only mean Android X to Android X+1. That is nothing in the end, is just some small things Google puts to the table in the newest update. In most of the times, Google is playing catch up with other Android skins. Thus being said, majority of Android manufacturers keep their phones updated with security updates and UI's updates (like One Ui, MiUi, Realme Ui, etc.) for more than 3 years. And those updates are more important. If you would have owned an Android phone you would have known about this details.
Probably you owned your last Android phone couple of years ago or you owned one just for short period of time and you are assessing your opinion on that. Which is totally wrong and not in accordance with current times.
My second hand S20+ is still receiving monthly security updates and will continue to receive One Ui and security updates for at least 2 more years. That will mean at least 4 years from the initial released date. I think is more than enough for any average person.
Also, my father has a 2 year old Realme 7 Pro and is still receiving Realme Ui and security updates. Yeah, he is on Android 11, but who cares, the phone receives security and Ui updates nonetheless.

Don't care about iPhone's software support longevity or whatever benefit you get from Apple or Samsung. Let people enjoy what they want or own. I don't need to be swayed by anyone about an iPhone I don't want. I owned multiple iPhones and iPads before. I don't care about iOS or iPadOS.

I'd get a Fold 3 if it's ever priced under $600 brand new. Maybe. Still don't really need a phone that heavy and I never ever needed a tablet.

There are plenty of android phones that had 3 major updates. Several Oneplus phones already have got 3 updates starting from the OP 3 and that is a very old model and also Chinese. So there, once again you've been proven wrong about android phone updates

What counts as an update in iOS land it's expected stuff in android (eg: safari/browser updates), there is much more feature fragmentation on different iOS devices than it's usually talked: see the recent debacle with airtags that left iphone 6s owners in the cold. most chinese software maker still update their skins while they might not give you major OS updates.
And since they usually start more feature rich it's a wash.

As far as security goes, google still updates and bug fixes trough play protect services (see during the spectre times), and if you use an android like you use an iphone (no sideloading, no Bootloader unlocking) you can probably coast on them and reach the 5 year mark, especially if you don't go on sketchy sites from your phone.

Not discretiding iphones but yours is a stupid analysis: iphone keep better pricing because of smart marketing and smart business moves.
If you want an iphone the only play in town is apple, so they can keep the older models around as "midrangers" and than lead the used prices in a more favourable direction.
Their marketing also is really high tier: see the regurgitation of "iphone updates longer" or the perception of prices.

Just a year ago whenever I asked anyone to show me an Android phone that doesn't have s**t software support and I already knew everyone is going to list me some Samsung model or they flashed with Pixel 6 and screamed "see, Google is now doing 5 years of updates". They just started doing it, they never did before. And that literally always happened. You people just always pick and choose the best single trait out of 100 Android phone models and say "see it's there" and declare it like it's present on all Android phones. Yeah, for one model of one brand. What about other 99 ?

If ain't that ironic. Also no, 95% of phones from 2018 have terrible software support. Like, really terrible. Getting 2 years of software updates from a Chinese phone is almost the maximum limit. The other 5% are Samsung phones from Galaxy A or Galaxy S series that had 3 years. It's only in late 2021 that they started improving things slightly on their top models. iPhones have 4 years of updates since iPhone 3GS from 2009 and 5 years of updates since 2011. What were you saying again?
