talha5007, 24 May 2022so this cpu needs ddr5 rams (extra cost comparing to ddr4) ... moreThat is always the case of early adopter, expensive. Material, R&D, manufacturing difficulties, etc these are the factors that cause them expensive. But as always they'll go cheaper over time. I remembered buying 120gb sata in 2014 for around $99 nowadays you can get as cheap as $15, $99 now could get you 1tb nvme.

Olympus Oms, 23 May 2022It can run it just as unstable as amd. As I said. Doesn... moreAre you actually using this 20 if not even 30 years old myth? Like, for real? Every new platform has stability issues, first generation Ryzen had it and every first radical redesign generation of Intel CPU's has it, if there are big radical changes, chances are always higher for unexpected issues despite all testing.

so this cpu needs ddr5 rams (extra cost comparing to ddr4) and if want to take full advantage of pcie5 then new gpu as well as new storage (we're talking about fully utilizing new pcie5).
so this cpu build will cost alot more which doesnt justify the performance gain over last gen ryzen build.

I've had an Intel i7 3770k before switching to my current AMD Ryzen 7 3800X.
Intel was rock stable, but so is my AMD.
Was my Intel CPU running hot under prime95? Yes, but so is my AMD CPU.
Did my Intel CPU run just fine on my Noctua NH-D14 under normal workloads - yes, but so does my AMD CPU.

One thing I don't miss - being forced to upgrade the motherboard with every gen. I'm really looking forward to a 5800X3D upgrade without having to replace my motherboard. If AMD cpu's were as bad as you're making them out to be, then Nvidia GPUs, AMD Gpus, Qualcomm APUs and a bunch of other stuff would have been just as bad, because they're all on the same tech process at TSMC.

These will draw a lot of power but will be powerful

              Competition is heating up.
Waiting for intel raptor lake news.

Vegetaholic, 23 May 2022Intel can do shit. 5.5ghz yes probably 1 or 2 cores, but al... moreIt can run it just as unstable as amd. As I said. Doesn't matter if it's cores or threads, amd is just an unstable Canadian. And Intel will still survive longer without cooling system than amd. Don't trust me? Try to boot the Intel and amd system and watch who crashes first.

Olympus Oms, 23 May 2022Who cares? Oc Intel can do that and be just as stable as amd. Intel can do shit. 5.5ghz yes probably 1 or 2 cores, but all cores running at 5ghz, thats a blow to Intel while also drawing less power. It obvious that it destroys intel 12 gen to pieces, now it will be up to Intel to show off what gen 13 can do.

I expected more cores either full big cores or big cores with smaller cores with smt which could have absolutely killed Intel on multi threaded workloads.

I upgraded to 5800x from 3600 and i am thinking about building new pc 2024 earliest if i think i get enough performance uplift with newer ddr5 cpus but it seems that with most games 5800x will be perfectly fine at 1440p.

One thing why i am more likely buying Amd cpu is their support for am4 motherboards which i expect am5 to continue so if i buy gen zen 5 cpu i expect that motherboard supports gen 6 or even 7 of zen.

LOL i still using 2nd Gen Intel 2500 :D with GTX 950 huahahaha....

Anonymous, 23 May 2022Same with me. My PC CPU are the same with yours and I don&#... moreIt's not going to happen. They may offer ARM processors as extra for laptops, but beyond that, not gonna happen. Apple can do it because they control all of it. With Microsoft looking like an absolute bafoon trying to force its way into ARM for like 10+ years with Windows that's entirely broken even on x86 this moment, AMD or Intel have zero incentive to bother, really.

Again, M1 works so great because Apple controls it all, just like on iPhones. If you'd put Bionic chip in an Android phone and run Android on it, it would probably perform really poorly. Same with ARM and Windows.

rizki1, 23 May 2022news : 5.5ghz cpu me : reading this with 1.4ghz amd laptopI'm on Ryzen 7 5800X and while I really want to have these new beasts, I'd have to replace entire system and I'm not quite in the mood or need to do that. So I'll just stick with it. I've had my last Haswell-E Core i7 system for 6 years and it just started showing its age a bit. So I should be fine although things were stagnating quite a bit back then. There are some rumors that AM4 is not going away entirely. Not sure yet what AMD meant by that exactly, would it be just software features and updates of AGESA or they plan on releasing Zen 4 based AM4 processor in near future. I sure hope they would. I don't need DDR5 or PCIe 5 just yet so I'd be fine with that. We'll see.
