My HTC Touch Diamond (P3700)s back cover is thick & Battery is 6 mm while a friend of mine has a similar device having thinner back cover and the battery is about 4 mm, Of course my battery's charge lasts longer but the thinner back cover looks more beautful, I am searching to get a thin cover & battery for my P3700 but since I live in Iraq there is no place for buying such accesseries.... any suggestions?!!

i recently bought the HTC touch diamond but thoroughly dissapointed with it's battery life! having charged it for 3 hrs (per the manual), it only lasts for another max 4 to 5 hrs before dying out.

Perhaps I might be the most impartial person on this forum since I own both the iphone 3G and the htc touch diamond!!!

(and before you all assume that I have more money than sense, you should know that I was offerred the htc touch diamond as an upgrade on my current phone contract, free of charge! and I won the iphone in a competition, again it cost me nothing!)

So which one do I keep? and which one do I sell on e-bay? - I actually got the iphone 3 days before I recieved the htc touch so I had a few days to play with it on it's own without comparison. I fell in love with iphone, as it was beautifully designed and beautifully mmade (both software and hardware) I have to admit that it is let down by the lack of MMS and dual cameras etc.. but I don't regularly use these features anyway! - I knew my phone upgrade was due soon so I decided that becuase I loved the iphone so much, I would just take whatever they offerred me and put it on e-bay, without opening the box.

However, when I got the call, they offerred me the htc touch diamond and I have to admit, I knew nothing about it, but since I was already inseparable from my iphone (and it's fantastic UI) - I said "yes" to the htc anyway with every intention of selling it as soon as it arrived. But, I thought since I had just blindly accepted a phone, I should do a bit've research into what I had actually asked for...so (using my iphone) I goolge searched for the htc touch diamond and was very intruiged when I discovered that there was a worldwide debate between the two phones...

So, the htc has arrived on my doorstep, and I'm in a predicament - do I use this rare opportunity to compare the two phones like for like and open the box, thus decreasing it's value on ebay? or do I just keep thinking that the iphone is the best phone ever and ignore the mystery of the htc touch diamond.

Needless to say, I opened the box... and, I genuinley beleive that was one of the best decisions I've ever made! For me, the htc touch diamond is brilliant! I don't know if it's just me, but I've experienced no lag on the touchflo system at all, the i'm hardly awre the i'm using a windows based operating system since it's all dressed up with pretty animations and so far everything operates smoothly! The Opera internet browser which comes as standard is great for mobile browsing, and it encompasses everything that the iphone lacks.

I never thought I could be cured of my iphone fever, but the htc touch diamond completley changed that and I'm glad it did!

Don't get me wrong...the htc touch diamond is by no means "perfect" and the iphone does beat it on some things but it is, in my opinion, the best phone on the market in terms of style, features and funtionality. Being a graphic designer, I really like the diamond cut back, I think it adds a unique style to an ontherwise flat device. I will be investing in the high capacity battery because I use my phone a LOT! but I have manged to find a much cheaper third party version than the one mentioned here on ebay!

My unlocked iphone 3G will be available to buy on e-bay shortly.

                  Hope that helps.

Every comment is subjective but to me this is one of the best phones around especially with the new rom. It has packed a lot of features, that iphone 3g doesn't have (what about video calling, mms, copy/paste OMG). These are basic features - and I chose the Diamond over the iphone 3G also because of this. Even Apple's greedy way of software developing/sharing is not nice at all. (Come on why all this filtering - Apple will squeeze your pockets till the last drop.) RE: iphone 3g i can say that i could have liked the phone better if there weren't all these drawbacks.

Everyone is saying that the htc's 3.2mp camera is not one of the greatest and I confirm this. With 3.2mp they could have given us a better image quality like colour enhancement but man this is only a mobile camera...it's no nikon or cannon. So to me it's acceptable. The iphone 3g's camera is NOT acceptable...boast boast boast with a 2mp wtf). Another thing that could have been better is the htc's battery life. This is miserable! It's like you have the urge to find a usb port or a plug somewhere so that you won't get out of juice. But anyway, at least we were provided with a beefier battery. You'll have to do some compromise here and to me it's acceptable. What isn't acceptable about the beefier battery is the price! Come on!

The Touch Screen is excellent...the phone is excellent. Only downside is battery life which i hope there is a fix for. Cuz even when on standby the phone doesn't charge properly.

Nice article, but it lacks some crucial information, eg:
                            - What is the added thickness and extra weight with these batteries respectively?

-touch Flo is slow & the touch screen is dumb to react!
-this phone is so slow in reaction & application.(Wasting the precious time of any businessman!)
-cheap sounding quality speaker with quiet volume.
-terrible battery life...(Imagine what will happen if you use a few applications at the same time! The thick battery absolutely spoil the look & feel of this phone!).

This phone is good looking but a finger print magnet(ugly looking & hard to read when those finger prints are all over the screen!)

More than a month down the road, none of the owner & user that I know recommand or give good comment about this phone! In fact a few friends are selling their HTC Diamond! Only one person/user so far told me that this phone is good(react fast & accurate etc, etc, is the service provider's sales who brought his phone for only half the list price(staff rate & only one is allowed per staff).
