The whole transparent design thing is so old-fashioned. It should have been abandoned by now, but it's still a thing for gaming phones like Red Magic so...

Let's see what the phone will deliver in the end. I feel this thing is basically a vaporware.

DMX, 25 May 2022The man said he would be there for the summer, hopefully he... moreI'd rather have just 2 cameras that I use instead of 4 cameras out of which only the main one is decent. If a company can't get good cameras then they shouldn't add bad ones (2mp macro/depth/monochrome/bw filter) just to brag about having a quad camera setup...

imparanoic, 25 May 2022nothing wrong using unique product design identity to diffe... moreThe first Nothing Phone will likely be relatively low in price ala Oneplus One to generate interest. This is assuming that Nothing can achieve good economies of scale by partnering with an established OEM, ahem, like Oppo. Essential Phone (which Nothing bought rights to) failed because of high launch price, so Nothing will want to avoid making the same mistake

So this will be mostly about design I guess. Interesting thing would have been a small size or 5 guaranteed major OS upgrades but I keep my expectations low and so I don’t think it will be any interesting apart from design.

phm, 25 May 2022How does it matter for a user if the components are visible... moreGoogle bought Project Ara and killed it so no more Lego-phones. And this clear design can be replicated on most phones as per JerryRig videos. You just lose ip rating.

nothing wrong using unique product design identity to differentiate the market, let's see how good this phone and if they can match the price level like their nothing ear (1), there is no reason why they can not be sucessful

How does it matter for a user if the components are visible? They planning to convert an utility to an art? Philosophical ideas till now. It would have been awesome to bring a phone which has upgradable parts like a desktop pc.

I don’t know about you, but I find transparent bodies to be of very bad taste, regardless of device. It’s like some thingamabob that someone taped together in a garage, with leftover junk.

I have the popcorn ready when it comes time for this phone, as well Osom's first phone. Both could be really interesting or a total flop. We saw what happened to Essential and we've seen what became of OnePlus. However, out of the two, the Osom is more interesting due to its focus on privacy and creating a new ecosystem.
No doubt we have a minimum of three months more of Pei drip feeding minor specs to the point that we've lost all interest in it by the time it comes around.

Reminds me of the transparent/translucent Game Boys and Nintendo 64 in the late-90s. Apple iMacs had them too.
None of it is interesting. The one I'm curious about is the Samsung Galaxy Z Slide.

This feels nothing more than a gimmick to me. If the specs are good, reviews turn out to be positive and price is within my budget then I might give it a try.
