Rumor: Galaxy Z Fold4 to improve cameras, bring iterative upgrades to the rest of the phone

30 May 2022
It may not get a 108MP main camera after all, but it should get a better telephoto lens with 3x magnification. Several improvements to the foldable display as well.

I've got a Fold 3 that's about 5 months old. You don't have to worry about fingernail marks on the screen or pressing too hard when playing games.
I'm assuming you've never seen or used one?

The Fold Series are much better than the competition in almost every way, except, the cameras. Samsung Needs to improve those. For the next iteration 3 x 50MP Cameras wothiyr a CFA should be employed, or with a moving CFA. That should vastly improve zoom capabilities without a zoom lens, make details much better and also improve low light by a noticeable amount. The lens coating needs a little working on.
For the Flip, Samsung should use a 16:10 aspect ratio for the internal screen. The external screen would look even better and the aspect ratio would be a great compromise for wide screen movie as well as multi-tasking.

AnonD-546724, 30 May 2022The Z Fold line was supposed to be innovative and exciting ... moreThe XS2 is actually just an updated XS. It still uses the same cameras. It is still not using UTG, means it is much more fragile than the Fold4. I mean even the screen is expose all the time the you call it much better???

Samsung NEVER forgets that WEIGHT AND THICKNESS is important when it comes to premium feeling and comfort. They can make it BULKY to put bigger battery and better cameras but they dont because it is not practical and people will start saying about its feel in hand. Jusy look at the Vivo Fildibg Phonr how thick and heavy it is.

No point of upgrading this series unless they invest WAY more in R&D for screen...
They already made huge jump with Fold series, but durability of this screen is just too poor to be useful in real life.
They can work on crease but this delicate screen is still just annoying to use. Me and most of people that used folded phones for more than a few days know that for now its just expensive toy.
I always wanted folded phone but when I got it for few weeks for test I realize that beside showing off and casual internet browsing Galaxy fold is big NOPE for everything else. Yes you can use it everyday, but its paranoid all the time after you make your first deeper grove with your nail and everytime you touch that screen you only think about not damaging it... and Playing games.... forget, You often squeeze screen hard when playing and you cant focus at all knowing that you can mess whole device with one wrong touch...

The battery should have improved. I wanted to get the Fold 4 for my wife as her Mate 20 Pro is starting to give in due to lack of bands in the US (and 3G shutdown) but if the battery life isn't cutting it, I may have to get her the Pixel 7 since that's the only phone that won't be a behemoth that sells here.

With no improvement to the folding gap, the crease still very much noticeable and battery still pitifully small; the Fold4 is turning up to be just a slightly warmed up Fold3. Yawn

The Z Fold line was supposed to be innovative and exciting each year.

So they did, with the second gen foldable, they offered true improvements in both hardware, software, and user experience.

However, it seems samsung quickly realised they were the only ones in the western foldable space. You can always import some exotic rarity but you'll lose warranty.
Huawei foldables are imported and offers much more exciting hardware but bricked software.

So Samsung stopped innovating in their foldables, and since they're the only viable option available for western users, why would they even bother ?

The Fold 3 is virtually the same as the 2, and it looks like the 4 won't be any more new except for the cameras, but then again it won't carry over the Ultra hardware.

So there you have it, the foldables with incremental upgrades that manage to not be exciting even though they're supposed to lead innovation.

I'll honestly rather purchase XS2 even it it means struggling with software the first couple of weeks. At least I'll have some truly exciting, cutting edge hardware.

Yes, XS2 is entirely different and isn't just some XS spare leftovers. Unlike Fold 4.

Still sounds just like a cosmetic upgrades which most of them can be software updated over time but samsung like most other brands would usualy do will ask for a higher price.

If they can improve the battery duration ni might consider it, rather than having to buy a phone and tablet. Flagship soc from Snapdragon are power hungry though.
