Absolutely ridiculous this is not coming to iPadOS 16!

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2022Good that Apple allows more customization with iOS 16, just... moreUltimately, I don't really care that much about lock screen customization (maybe sticking Juice Watch to Lockscreen will be cool to keep track of battery of devices), but I would like to get rid of flashlight and camera shortcuts the most. I found myself never really using them, but I've turned on flashlight and camera this way by mistake so many times it's quite annoying. From the looks of it, we'll be able to do that.

Good that Apple allows more customization with iOS 16, just shame it took them so long to allow basic stuff, but this is still the right way they're heading.

Carplay showing the speed etc from the car rather than the car driving the screen sounds fairly dangerous, what happens if the connection suddenly dies? whats wrong with just letting the bloody car do it...

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2022No you never you said name one FEATURE he named several ... moreI can’t really believe this needs saying but I really feel sorry for those of you for whom ‘who had what feature first’ is a matter of concern.

I personally couldn’t give a monkey’s t0ss, and you know why, because I’m simply an end user, a consumer. As such I just make use of the features on what ever product or platform I choose to use. I have entirely too much else going on in my life to care one bit that one or more of those features might have been inspired an earlier example.

I don’t work for either Apple or Google, and I hope they pilther each other blind, so that when I use one of their products, it’s got all the good stuff.

But for the rest of you choosing for some unfathomable reason to get offended of behalf of multibillion (or even trillion) dollar companies because their ideas might inspire similar in competitors, I’d say let it go yeah. They don’t really care about you as individuals any way, and they all retain armies worth of highly paid lawyers to endlessly litigate such things in nice comfortable courts. None of the proceeds of which will ever find it’s way to the likes of you

SShock, 07 Jun 2022What good are updates if you basically don't even get ... moreIt's not essentially bad to have an older version of system, if the updates include all newest security measures for the system, and don't make too much mess. Which also is a problem with Xiaomi and other Chinese brands.

Stom190, 07 Jun 2022Clearly you have no clue what you're talking about on ... moreWhat good are updates if you basically don't even get them? That applies to basically every Chinese phone brand ever and that suddenly makes 95% of phone brands. Basically only ones not Chinese are Korean Samsung and American Apple and Google (Pixel phones). And that's it. And they are all significantly better at updating thing than Chinese counterparts unfortunately. I'd know because I had many through last decade. Samsung Galaxy S2 from over a decade ago had better software support than most Chinese brands have today. Let that sink in. They promise 3 and 4 years now, but only after pressure from Samsung/Apple and it's usually some arbitrary applied rule where you need the most expensive 1000€ model to get 4 years of updates, otherwise you'll just get 1, maybe 2 or even none on budget models.

Xiaomi is especially bad because they keep on meddling around with MIUI versions and presenting them as "Android version" even though it's just latest MIUI running on older version of Android underneath. Unless you have the very latest and greatest phone they just released. And even there, they often lack latest features, like Privacy features in Android 12, even Xiaomi models with actual Android 12 don't have those features for some weird reason.

So, yeah, I had one Xiaomi and it was fine, but it cost 350€ and could be worse for the price so it wasn't all that bad. Having a "modern" Xiaomi for 800+ € and having same poor software support as 6 years ago, no thanks. I'll rather pick an iPhone or a Samsung even if it has a dreaded Exynos if I'm honest...

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2022"Poor updates", yet you fools are cheering at the... moreClearly you have no clue what you're talking about on chinese brands... Have been a really loyal customer to xiaomi ( not anymore due to ridiculous pricing ) and the MIUI is miles better than what you can find on IOS or any other Android sorry to say, been using Samsung for a while now, and sold it and went back to my old mi mix 2 to see what is to release xiaomi with the 12 Ultra and leyca.

To the point, software has been for the most part flawless for some exceptions, that by the day not even apple is free off software issues ( had to reset my old iphone 6s plus due to constant restartings ).

The thing is that more updates are always better despite the brand you're in, but if the updates aren't any good at all then it is absurd.

BrianCoriour, 07 Jun 2022Its a new software not a new phone lol.LOL, I didn't say it is a new phone, we all know it is still the same ugly notch, but I like the iOS smoothness and the new look screen features.

Nothing mind blowing at first sight. Nice that Apple finally adds some intelligence to the lock screen but for the rest it the same old (and outdated) UI. No question about the superiority when it comes to update policy, Apple rules (while Android finally makes a move in the right direction although the responsibility remains in the hands of the OEM which means that some of them...uhum Motorola, Xiaomi uhum...just keep on doing as they were before...not having a decent policy). I miss thru creativity form both platforms where ony gimmicks are added but nothing shocking. Same old iPhone / Android...boring. I miss the Microsoft platform that was a bit more refreshing back in the days but sadly enough Microsoft has once more proven to be the inefficient company they have always been.

You could do that in 2 seconds with Android 10 years ago, don't be fooled
