KondriX, 07 Jun 2022Yeah, I was thinking about the same, why so late? At least ... moreiPhone 14 is ready to manufacture or maybe even being produced, so it would be impossible to change the whole construction (no, it's not just changing a port). Apple would sue them and EU would lose, paying terrible sum of money. For 2024 it can be made.
I would add even more devices to the mandatory USB-C - smartwatches, bicycle and camping lights, other similar consumer electronic devices. Even now the newest devices are being produced with microUSB.

At this point, 14 series is at testing phase with final specs decided.

Anyway, surely Apple is gonna use usb c 2.0 like xiaomi. Since lightning is based on it already.
Speeds lower than 1Gbps.

JustSomeRandomGuy, 07 Jun 20222024? I wish it could be effective at least within this yea... moreYeah, I was thinking about the same, why so late? At least why not 2023? They have a full year to comply, even for Apple should not be that hard, especially when they already have products with USB-C.

Everyone Apple this and Apple that and ignoring millions of devices that still use ancient microUSB today and no one cares because everyone is obsessing over Apple so hard. It's only been relatively recently that even cheaper devices are getting USB-C, but isn't a rule by far.

JustSomeRandomGuy, 07 Jun 20222024? I wish it could be effective at least within this yea... moreif already effected in a year, there will be no existing iPhone. you will only get an android phone which you can choose so many options. you can start with low-end, mid, and flagship. and some midrangers can be overpriced than an iPhone. like reno 7 lite for example, i can buy an XR or XS max with 128gb of storage.

JustSomeRandomGuy, 07 Jun 20222024? I wish it could be effective at least within this yea... moreI don’t wish this because it would mean that all existing iPhone models could not be sold anymore and then there are no budget options.

you have to suffer, 07 Jun 2022if apple doesnt want usb c, why PORTLESS??? how in the worl... moreApple will not go portless.
1) magsafe as other Qi charging is not that efficient compared to wired.
2) transfer stuff using wifi is nowhere near usb cable.
3) wireless does, not work if phone runs out of battery or bricks after bad update

This is amazing news hopefully the car industry before ev gets fully started will adopt a similar approach. However mobile phones and all electronic devices should have been using usb c as a standard since it’s inception.

if apple doesnt want usb c, why PORTLESS??? how in the world am i supposed to use wired lightning headset?? and transfer data via cable?? wireless charging is slower and transfers more heat. they should kept the lightning port not being portless, its a bad move. or else new iphones will turn into a thin slab of brick anyway.

From 2024. So no doubt the EU asked Apple when they were releasing their USB-C iPhones and Apple told them 2024.
This is the EU playing the big boy bit really they are snivelling cowards who to what billionaires tell them
