Three 64MP cameras on the back and a massive 6.8” AMOLED hold a lot of promise.

If you can always compose properly and walk closer to your subject, and don't mind wide angle distortion that's fine, otherwise ZTE recognises there's a problem.

Out of all the major Chinese brands, ZTE is the one with the worst software support. They abandon devices out of nowhere and the users are stuck with bugs forever. So wtf do you mean " just like all Chinese brands basically"?? Xiaomi? No. Oppo/OnePlus/Vivo? No. Honor? No. Huawei? No. All those brands offer much better software support than ZTE. With ZTE you're lucky if you receive more than two updates... And I don't mean major Android updates. That is out of the question.

          Review is almost ready already

Axon 30 and now Axon 40 are pretty interesting, but if only ZTE wasn't such a stinker with software, just like all Chinese brands basically. I'd totally consider it if this was better (mostly because of no selfie hole), but I don't even know what's their official stance on software support. Which is usually a bad sign.

Curved screen nonsense, so this is DOA for me.

I originally wanted this phone really bad because of completely uninterrupted display thanks to UDC but price is too high compared to the S22 Ultra, at least in the US with the extremely low popularity of ZTE. I'm talking about actual money spent after all promotions and after re-selling since I only keep my devices for a year.

I just bought the s22U, 256 for about $600 with all promotions and discounts (~$150 after cashback + ~$450 for cracked S21U trade in from eBay), but in a year I should be able to sell it for at least those $600 or even a bit more in the pre-owned market.

For the Axon 40 Ultra I'd have to pay $850 and if I'm lucky to find a buyer in a year, they would pay probably $350-$450 at most, so actual out of pocket would be $400-$500.

The S22U is superior in every single way except for the under display camera and charging speed. But ZTE is missing all OneUI features (DeX, bixby routines & bixby voice commands, GoodLock, OneHand Operation+, etc, etc.), wireless charging, water resistance, software support, better security (Knox), gorilla glass victus+, 10x periscope camera for up to 100x hybrid zoom, better camera system overall, S-PEN, faster and more secure ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, QHD+ resolution, MUCH better compatible cases/accesories selection and and the list goes on and on.

Looks nice but the main camera will likely be a weakness of this phone. The main sensor is basically just a minor upgrade from the imx686 as it is the same size as the 686. For a flagship it's one of the weakest main camera sensors. Good auxiliary sensors though

                    Eagerly waiting for review
