"Everyone talks about LDAC like it's the best thing ever, but it's super unreliable and it's range is abysmal."
The extra data the audio gear can sample is barely audible because barely any true wireless earbud drivers can play the extra resolution. It's the same driver, DAC, and amp, regardless if the source is AAC or LDAC. As for the Nothing Ear 1s themselves, I haven't tried them myself so I won't judge them. But I am quite excited about the Phone 1. Here's me hoping that this will be what the Oneplus 8 Pro was always supposed to be.

Suprise surprise but there... moreIphone SE is only cheap because whole project was ready years ago (2017).
It is an iphone 8 with newer SoC. Nothing more.
Apple just needs to change SoC every generation.
Since it is phone that is gonna barely have 5-7% of total sales, Apple does not bother trying to make huge margin with it in North America/Europe.
Do not compare to phones that use crap macro/depth cameras, JN1 as super wide , gorilla 5, plastic back, no IP rating, screens from Tiamna/Boe/Visionox or even rigid oled from samsung, usb2.0 just to have margin for using SD888+/8g1 .
Find X2 Pro (announced for 1200 euros in 2020) is better phone than Reno 8 Pro+ (Announced in march 2022) despite "weaker SoC".
It is better to pay N for flagship 2020 than paying similar price on these upper midrange/"flagship killer".
Even if phones like S22+, 5iii , X70 Pro had simpler SoC like 690/695/750 they would still be better than any of these "flagship killers" like K50 Pro, OP 9 RT, GT Neo 3, Moto G200

I agree that they sound pretty good and the noise cancellation being weak is justified with a $100 price tag.
It sucks there's no customization and tweaking really. More disappointment.
And to top it off they didn't look as cool as they were originally being touted, IMO.
