maxmin, 12 Jun 2022Burn in on oled screen doesn't happen with cell phones... moreBurn-in is not only about static images.
Components are organic and there is degradation with time. Nothing organic lasts forever.
As they generate light, they get weak and at some point they die.
Blue is first to die, which makes screen with red hues.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2022OP probably sits at a 27" 1080p computer. What would be wrong with 27" FHD display? I'd have FHD even on 32 inches.

Gotta be honest. After 4 flat displays, just got a Xiaomi 12, and I'm loving the curved screen. Perhaps it is just because of the novelty from using a new device, but I enjoy the looks, the feel and the smaller screen!

Spanky, 12 Jun 2022No, people prefer AMOLED because they are smart. It provide... moreBurn in on oled screen doesn't happen with cell phones because they are not on all the time and what's on screen constantly changes. On a regular TV burn in can still happen on oled screens. Especially when people have a constant news channel like CNN or CNBC on all the time. The screen news crawlers and stock prices can be in the same place for hours and eventually cause a burn in on oled TVs like they used to cause on old CRT TVs.

QHD+ should be the standard atleast in 2024 but they do need to make batteries better or invent a new way to power them. I know they are already working on a new type of battery. I forgot the name but it pretty much last way longer than the ones we have now.

You would have to pause a single image for days to burn in...

How long do you need to do it to get that effect? Because I have been doing that surely for 1 year+ on my almost 3 year amoled phone now. No burn in.
Even I will have static text shown on the screen for several minutes. For example while running some computation script in terminal, with screen kept on while it's running. Never faced it.
I was even using a text based app launcher, which was showing my entire app list in one screen with big font on 100% white color with lock screen timeout of 2 minutes. That's means every time I put my phone on the desk, it will be up for 2 minutes with the max brightness(because of the overhead light) showing static set of text covering 70+% of my screen. Have never faced such burn in issue so far.

I have two preferences:
A) IPS, 60Hz, 16:9, 4.7in, 720p, Square corners, Flat Display
No Burn-in, Very low battery drain, Perfect for a Handheld Console like the Retroid Pocket 3
(combine with User Removable Battery)
B) OLED, 120Hz, 21:9, 6.3in, 1080p, Rounded corners, Flat Display
HDR10+, Great all-rounder, decent display size but small enough for pockets and hands
(combine with IP68 Resistance and Wireless Charging)
