I looked at all black objects in my home and office and they look exactly the same in my amoled display. I can't say the same in my IPS display.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2022Yes. I remember when S8 was current samsung flagship, here ... moreS8 was a QHD curved display. Both features pointlessly increase screen cost without notable advantages.
The cost to repair modern S-series devices with flat FHD displays (e.g. S20 FE, S21/21+/21 FE, S22/22+) are cheaper to get screen replacement on.

the only downside of curved screen is hard to apply screen protector (for me temperred glass wirh uv glue), even the phone store crew not brave enough to take risk to apply it.
also the temperred glass is relatively expensive (compared to the flat).

QHD = nose on glass engineering. Just spec chasing divorced from reality and normal device use.
FHD better battery life and performance.
It's a no brainer.
High framerate is nice, much more appreciable than imperceptible resolution gains.

My sister traded her galaxy for new one last year, screen was red already. Blue subpixels are gonna die and it is impossible to prevent. Components that are organic have expiration date.
Deep black are not even real. Look at any black object at you home you can see it is nothing like what you see on oled screen.
Oled uses more power than LCD for white images.
Oled has shorter lifespam.
Oled has lower PMW frequency.
Oled has lower sharpness because of pentile type.
Oled cannot sustain max brightness much longer otherwise it increases speed organic components oxydize.
Oled is so good that even samsung still not selling oled tvs. Gonna start just now.
Few models with WRGB oled from LG, the same panels samsung mocks on their ads.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2022People prefer to have a display panel that always suffer fr... moreYes. I remember when S8 was current samsung flagship, here you would pay about 30-32% of phone's retail price to replace screen.
And so many repair shops all around world use generic parts.
What is the chance a small shop from small town can get screens directly from samsung display division for repair?

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2022People prefer to have a display panel that always suffer fr... moreNo, people prefer AMOLED because they are smart. It provides infinitely superior contrast, perfect blacks, the ability to implement in-display fingerprint readers and in-display cameras, excellent support for flexible displays, etc. That’s just some of the advantages.
Burn-in is a silly spooky story to scare honest people. There is no danger of burn-in, unless you leave a static image on the screen for many days. It is practically impossible, unless you deliberately hook your phone to the charger and leave the screen on for days/weeks. Otherwise, the phone would run out of battery far before any potential burn-in.
High repair costs? Who gives a flying funk? Just buy a new phone or use the warranty. And don’t use your phone as a baseball, of course.
The unfortunate use of LCDs in monitors in TVs has nothing to do with reliability and everything to do with COST and quality! Otherwise, all of the cheap TVs, monitors and phones would use AMOLED.

I will pick a QHD led anyday over fhd or lcd. Been using led for years and got quite accustomed to it. Most of my phones had QHD so that's what I prefer now

People prefer to have a display panel that always suffer from screen burn-in issues and cost a fortune to repair? No thanks, IPS LCD is still relevant. There's a reason why laptop screens and external PC monitors still use IPS LCD panel (spoiler alert: reliability).
