You're talking about the previous (2022) 12.9" iPad Pro which did have Mini-LED while the 11" 2022 was "just" an LCD. They switched that this year so both the 11" and 13" have these new so called "tandem" OLEDs that apple have been going on about. I think the argument they are making along with the usual apple courage and innovation marketing bs is that that both MiniLED and OLED have faults but they claim to have managed to minimise the faults of OLED (notably efficiency, endurance, consumption, burn in etc) in comparison with the LCDs in ipads and macbooks having documented backlight bleed and "jelly scrolling" issues of which neither of are an issue in OLEDs. No screen tech is perfect (not even the luch lauded but not actually achieved MicroLED) but we will have to see if they are right or if it is Apple's marketing bs

That notch looks hideous!
What are they thinking? There is enough space on a laptop to fit that in, even if you have to make the bezels a tiny bit wider who wouldn't prefer that?

George399, 17 Jun 2022Wow they are gonna change the display for 2024. That what w... moreMajority of laptop still use LCD, only few of them (Asus, Lenovo) use OLED. Your comment indicate that Apple is very late in introducing OLED in laptop when most in market still use LCD, meanwhile Apple already used Miniled which looks much better than LCD albeit with some issues (blooming) in some of their Macbook models.

Sounds like Apple is having mini-LED provider/partner issues, so it's switching to OLED which was deemed not good enough previously.
