It why you find bang and Olufsen in swanky malls

They have an audiophile market out there.

Rkm, 20 Jun 2022Dude, I get it. As I said, I was curious to know the reason... moreBecause external isn't the real thing. And a real audiophile goes for the real thing. Just like a musician goes for instruments and not a beat box or computer, even though it can do almost the same. And when you kids try to play the audiophile card, you actually don't know what it really is. And that's why external can't be used by a real audiophile. But let me ask you this. Which is better? B&o from the 80s or b&o from 2000s? Choose wisely, and as an audiophile. Or choose wrong, as a kid who just try to sound cool with words.

Rkm, 20 Jun 2022My advice, take it or leave it, is to buy a very cheap IEM ... moreThe only one I have found trustworthy to date is ThePhonograph. They don't necessarily skew their opinions towards bass, but they have a separate section in all reviews for bass. So you can very quickly determine whether or not it will be up to the task if bass is a make or break attribute.

aReefer, 20 Jun 2022Actually I must confess that the M40x's are in my opin... moreI totally agree on the M40x. I thought the ZS10 Pro probably wouldn't sound as good as the ZS5 and ZS6 because it's 4 BA and only 1 DD. The ZS5 / ZS6 uses 2 BA and 2 DD. The ZSR is 2 BA and 1 DD. I actually love that IEM too, but it is probably more bass heavy than the average consumer will want. The ZS6 is one of my favorite headphones of all time if not my favorite. Another one I really loved was my Sony MDR-V700 (over the ear). It is very bass heavy, but I used them as my go to for DJ-ing drum and bass.
EDIT: corrected ZSR configuration.

Olympus Oms, 20 Jun 2022No matter how much you try, it doesn't change the fact... moreThere were novel one's like LG series with ES9018K2M + SABRE9601 and did go to 106~108 dB SINAD and rare not even present on wider market Vivo X50 Pro + (newer CS DAC's) that did around 113 and it holds a title for now.
For the price and what you get old Sonata HD Pro is still probably the best dongle alike phone DAC (with an honourable mention of Meizu Pro). E1DA's are a good option if you want balanced out on the budget.
Desktop offering goes from 115 for some 150$ to over 120 dB SINAD starting from 300~350$ onwards, balanced and cetera (Topping, ASML, Sabaj...). To my better knowledge best mesured so far dongle is Luxury & Precision W2 (by WolfX-700).
For a gaming PC it's best entirely to avoid USB and use optical out to stand alone or gaming DAC (bunch of magnetic dust filters, switching power supply's on heavy load... EMI).
Let's get serious you can get deacent TWS or neckband BT IEM's for around 100$ (Galaxy buds 2 or for a little more money first gen Pro model or Creative Aurvana Trio neckband for 100 $). BT is what it is, deacent wired one's start around 60$ like FiiO FH1s or if you still can find older One+ triple driver's or wired Aurvana Trio (for 70~100$).
I am not all that much in IEM's recently (never really worked for me), best regards.

Zuzuz, 20 Jun 2022There's a lot of people that can afford a good phone. ... moreUnfortunately, majority of phone manufacturers are not including 3.5mm unbalanced output on their phones, probably to changes in demand, only Asus and Sony still use 3.5mm unbalanced output, are you interested in these phones, sony xperia pro i, xperia 1 IV, Asus rog 5 s and forthcoming rog 6?

Regardless of brands and accustics, here is a public service announcement:
I got a couple of ear infections that my Dr. blamed on my TWS earbuds at the time. He said that since they became popular, he has noticed that he is getting a lot more patients with nasty ear infections, and many of them told him that they used IEM's or TWS's regularly.
He advised against using them in general for health reasons. To quote him: "Anything that you put inside your body is by definition a surgical instrument" and as such he said, you should avoid these types of earphones - and if you must use them, ensure that you keep them clean at all times and don't just leave them wallowing at the bottom of your backpack picking up crumbs and other debris which then finds its way into your ears and causes problems.
Keep your buds clean people. Ear infections are agony, trust me.

MasEnha, 20 Jun 2022Hahaha finally Blon BL03 user speaks. Sounds is not all ... moreIndeed bro. Albeit bl03 has some weaknesses, it's one of analogue iem that rarely be found on the chifi world besides Mele as its successor. I do love both of them due to the old vinyl nuance that can be felt upon listening them. Imo if anyone want neutral warm almost analogue timbre sound, you can get Lea which has better timbre and driver than Chu

dbjungle, 20 Jun 2022Just out of curiosity... What do you think of the M40x? I... moreActually I must confess that the M40x's are in my opinion a bit over-rated. Same for the M50x's. I'm literally considering selling them and going for the similarly-priced AKG K361's which got warm reviews in the 100$ +/- range.
As for the KZ's, I have only the aforementiond, and they aren't bad per se, just a bit harsh in my opinion as if they crammed in too many drivers (mainly the BA drivers. I mean 4 per ear is a bit much) and I think that they would have been better advised to have done more tuning instead of cramming in more hardware with mediocre tuning - at least in my case.
I like the base to be rumbling also - but only when it is that way in the source track. In other words, I don't want *every* bass note to rumble. I don't want the mid-bass drowning or being over-emphisized.
As for the subjectivity of headphone reviews, I totally agree. I mean, different people have different ears and different tastes, and this is especially true in IEM's IMHO. Even more than over-ears or on-ears etc. mainly because everyone has slightly differently shaped ear canals, and the IEM is going to sit in my ears differently to how they sit in yours for example, and we can argue until the cows come home over why i think X is better, when you may think it's crap, and I think that Z is crap and you love it. Really we are probably hearing two very different sounds, changed by our anatomies but also by how far you shove them in, and what size tips you use as opposed to me, and other various other variables.
In the end, you just have to get what sounds good to you.
